@@sanafizasana4351 It's because Javi was born in 1991. He was 26 in 2018 Pyeongchang. Male figure skating has a longer lifespan than female figure skating, but its heyday is in its early 20s. Around 26 years old, people usually consider retirement. Especially, he won 14th place in 2010 Vancouver Olympics, 4th place in 2014 Sochi Olympics, and bronze medal in 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. Realistically, it is hard to expect a medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, so it is natural for him to retire after winning two consecutive world titles, seven straight European championships, and two silver medals at the Grand Prix Final.

It's inspirational that rivals from different countries can become such great friends! That's true sportsmanship and respect! I'm close like this with my best friend too, but our grandpas were friends, our moms were best friends and pregnant with us together, and our sons (which we were pregnant with together) are best friends. It's not the same as being from different cultures or anything, but it's still great to have friends that you share a deep platonic love with. Too much emphasis is put on sex and romantic love and not enough on brotherly love. Even a marriage that's only romantic love won't last because you need to be best friends too.
