Notice, the people at the front are the photgraphers, fashion journalists and buyers. Unlike today a bunch of celebrities or the likes who are there to be seen and not for the art of fashion. And yes, the models then had glamour and they glide so effortlessly. Runway models today are so robotic and with blank faces. I hate the quick steps of today

Models haven't had real beauty, poise or grace since the early 90s for the most part.

I think the rise of social media and hollywood ruined fashion. With brands needing to be seen quickly to survive they started using instgram models, celebrity front rows, and gimmicky quick-sell pieces like sneakers. We still have our own greats like alber elbaz, phoebe philo, and haider ackermann. Look how they're doing now. Instead of them total jokes like demna gvasalia, virgil abloh and supreme are ruling fashion with rappers in their front rows who know bupkis about fashion.

People these days, celebrities and models included, don't care about fashion. Plus their presence simply downgrades the essence of fashion and how the general public perceives fashion

Divine show, fashion heaven! So entertaining you cannot take your eyes off the clothes and the models. I don*t even know where to look, the cut - the fabric - the hats - the jewelry *VISUAL OVERLOAD*

The clothes could be worn straight from the catwalk and the models are beautiful. I have saved this to watch several times. Very inspiring unlike the current fashion trends and some models.

Too bad the fashion world NOW is dangerously short of cultivated people. Difficult to let go of a legacy that served as a meter stick by which all fashion creations were judged. Madame Sarkozy is the epitome of elegance in this show. Her grooming, movement and gesture streamlined.

You are right on target man. Yves Saint Laurent is and was my fashion Idol. I wanted to be just like him growing up. I'm 44 and wanted to be a fashion designer every since I was 4 years old. Granted I wasn't able to make that dream come true, but I miss The legend of Saint Laurent and the models up until Naomi Campbell, Christy turlington Linda Evangelista etc. These new girls today can't walk, they are ugly and have no personality whatsoever. Fashion is drab and there is nothing like Couture!

Most modern models have been ugly and looking like Olive Oyl since the mid to late 90s.

@LisaSimpsonRules14 жыл бұрын
@whatever456 Probably it's true. I've noticed that nowadays, models never take off the coats they are wearing. They are just paraded completely open so that you can see what's underneath. Many of our modern models wouldn't be able to take their jackets, coats, gloves, etc off with elegance. Or maybe it happens that designers don't want their models to do things like that anymore.

@whatever456 I agree with every part of your post, but, remember, by this time, the supermodels had become too powerful within the industry. They began calling the shots, becoming more important to the public than even some of the designers, photographers & fashion editors & critics...and their petty egos would NOT stand for that, so, they started hiring TONS of nondescript girls w/ no personality & boys who look like some European pedophile's fantasy, instead of the muscular, masculine guys.
@jrmetmoi7 жыл бұрын

This is beautiful. Just what high style is supposed to be. Elegant, hyperfeminine. Soigne. And the women are fantastic. Why don't models now know how to walk like this with feminine sophistication, just the right amount of arch hauteur. Madame Sarkozy is perfect. They all are. So stylish, such easy elegance. Models now are nothing but a bunch of anorexic sullen idiots. These women are worldly. They understand the idea of couture as well as the individual garments. Wonderful

@@drstranger7430oui c'est elle, dans une robe claire, près de Grace Coddington et de Polly Mellon. C'est d'ailleurs après ce défilé qu'Anna n'a plus été invitée, jusqu'en juillet 1999.

this ain't fashion but style, the Yves Saint Laurent style, hasn't take a wrinkle, totally relevant , take that galliano an co....not some gay man fantasy of woman that don't even exist , but a wearable clothes that embellish and gave confidence, and power to a real woman, YSL loved real woman and it showed...and still does

the 1990s were great years for fashion....OMG when I think about all the things that men wore in those days. today it would be seen as gay. Fashion was much more logical. it was pure luxury, at it was excessable at all price points. Clothes have become ever more cheap and they lack logic. The luxury has been replaced with sexuality. The creativity and confidence that came with clothes has been replaced with an overwhelming desire to be the same! I miss those days.
