Did a bunch of reaction watching today, noticed a lot of people miss the last note actually, I just posted a comment about it, I reckon maybe it's so low people automatically process it as "music" instead of realising it's Geoff singing.

It amazes me how many people DON'T react to that last note...I mean, that is an EPIC note. Hardly an everyday sound. maybe it's just be and that one voice coach, but it blows my mind. Recommendations: The Hillywood Show...hard to pick just one though...they are TV and movie parodies. The Lord of The Rings one is worth checking out, it's really mind-blowing, considering everything they do is fan-funded.

Binged the crap out of this song and reactors today, something I've noticed only maybe like, half the reactors even notice or react to the final note, and I wonder if it's so low that people just don't even realise it's him singing and process it in their mind as just "part of the music" like it's a synth or something. Thoughts?

Cheap speakers, including cheap earphones, often can't produce notes that low. The low note in this song is E1, about 41 Hz (VoicePlay, like most Western music, is standardized on A440 and equal temperament, so the ideal frequency for E1 is 41.2 Hz). Cheap speakers typically bottom out somewhere between 30 and 50 Hz. (Trivia: the monophonic speaker on the original IBM PC bottomed out at 37Hz.) The hearing range of the human ear bottoms out about an octave lower (typically 10-40 Hz, depending on the person, with a median value of about 20 Hz), except that if a low notes is *loud* enough, your body can still feel the vibrations, even though your ears don't register them; but you need a GOOD subwoofer for that. Anyway, *most* music doesn't use notes lower than about C2 except as part of the rhythm section, in which capacity the brain can sort of fill it in anyhow based on what is above, so people don't necessarily notice that cheap speakers are terrible, unless they're paying attention to bass performance or are sufficiently musically inclined that such things stand out; but VoicePlay's cover of Oogie Boogie Song is a good example of a case where it could make a meaningful difference in your listening experience, even if you don't have a musician's ear.
