First Time In Sabah 🇲🇾 Explore Kampung And Food

We arrived by ferry from Labuan in the state of Sabah where we will be for a short while. We decided to stay in Menumbok, the village where the ferry lands and leaves from and sleep in some homestay. Let´s go out and explore this kampung a bit and try some of the food as well.

Next, proceed to Papar,Beaufort,Kota Kinabalu,Tawau,Sandakan,Kundasang and etc..Visit beautiful beaches in Sabah..The nearest to KK City is Manukan Island.Go to Kinabalu National Park..Kundasang also, regarded as New Zealand of Malaysia..Sabah is known with fresh and cheap seafoods..Better try ot Sir..

Somewhere in 2010 if I not mistaken, I went to Menumbok to oversee a salvaging operation around 1 nautical miles from the shore. And also happen to know someone who catches lobsters for living there. During that time, there's no tap water supplies and they rely on well waters

Menumbok is only for ferry thats all. homestay either at kundasang or kota kinabalu, but recently i found out there's agreement between china and korea about homestay at kota kinabalu. they cant do homestay at kota kinabalu anymore because of that agreement

Hello Sir, and welcome to Sabah, where you get to see many beautiful beaches as I did when I was in audit trip 4-5 years ago. You also might get to see many western and Korean tourist there. I think I said it many times already - I will plan to drive from Kuching straight to Tawau alone next year hopefully. Right now, 'hunting' for more money first.

Sabah has officially been recognized as the poorest state in Malaysia recently. Used to be Kelantan, but Kelantan has overtaken it recently. Therefore you can see poverty everywhere.

Menumbok is just a typical small fishing village/very old fashioned town area, with a population of only around 4000 people.

​@@ld-n1648Please check the latest Poverty Data from the Statistics Department of Malaysia. It clearly shows Sabah has the highest poverty rate in Malaysia. I cannot copy and paste here. So just type poorest state in Malaysia to get the statistics.

@@alifhashim3752 That’s because Sabah has almost 1 million stateless people (mostly illegal foreigners & refugees from neighbouring Philippines & Indonesia). They are contributing majorly to the state’s poverty rate, and they are Non Malaysians, who have been living in Sabah for decades. They are the ones living in the hundreds of water villages all around Sabah, while many local Sabahans and NGOs are contributing in helping their communities. I’m not denying the fact that there are Sabahan locals who are also living in poverty, but it’s not the majority. Sabah population is only around 3.6 million, with 1 million being stateless or illegal immigrants. Overall Sabah poverty rate is at 19.7%, with the stateless population (being around 27% of the total population), contributing to that rate.
