I was lucky enough to meet her at a CHON (RIP) show years back. My friend's little sister was in love with her, and after getting to interact with Yvette a bit, I could see why. For better or worse, she always seems genuine. I'm not surprised to see that her signature is just a nicely spec'd guitar that almost anyone can appreciate. I love that this is a trend in sigs in general.

Ichika Nito has a signature Talman for $699 and even though it has paintjob it's less interesting, It comes with his signature pickups rosewood fingerboard AND a roasted maple neck. You might want to check that one out, in my opinion has more things for less price.
@BrunodeSouzaLinoАй бұрын
I don't know. For 100 bucks less, you can get Ichika Nito's ICHI10, which has a roasted neck, stainless steel frets, single coils and it comes with a gig bag. Granted it is a headless guitar with 24 frets and no tremolo, but it still more strat than most strats.
@hyperplayability6290Ай бұрын
24 fret will cause the positions with the neck pickup to sound different, as well as the pickups being voiced differently
@BrunodeSouzaLinoАй бұрын
@@hyperplayability6290 If I'm not mistaken, the neck pickup is voiced to compensate for that like it is on the JS24.

I owned an ichi10 for 6 months, was definitely worth every dollar! Most versatile guitar ive ever used. Not to mention the “alter” mini toggle switch allowing to use middle + neck or bridge in series essentially giving a somewhat humbucker tone (a little muddier but nonetheless a fatter tone when needed) Albeit mine had some QC issues and someone local wanted to trade their new strandberg boden essential 6 which I couldnt find any reason not to trade for and havent looked back since honestly. Although, I do plan on buying another ichi10 eventually, hopefully with perfect QC

One million points for "Quack. Nice." My question would be whether or not it fits in a Gator TSA case. If so, no worries about the lack of gig bag. (My mind was blown recently when i realized that the Gator case's side of the neck compartment fits an Ibanez wah PERFECTLY.)
@andrefluddАй бұрын
Good question. I have so many gig bags laying around I didn’t need to buy one for it.
@mike__durrettАй бұрын
As far as I can tell from the Sweetwater listing, that Gator ATA should fit this guitar--they include "certified compatible" cases in a cross-shopping/accessories section. I tried to post a comment with the direct link, but it probably got caught by the spam filter.

Appreciate the review and your approach to the instrument. I'd also be interested in your take on the Ibanez signature Ichi10, a headless S-type with some interesting electronics. Knowing your familiarity with headless designs would be a big plus.

It looks cool, a bit of a crossover between several guitars (that Tele-inspired pickguard with the Tele-inspired metal plate integrating a Strat-style jack, lots of fun!). I don't see they address some of the areas I dislike about Strats, except the 3+3 headstock, which is a huge plus for anyone who likes to bend strings. Yeah, I would choose it over any Strat.

I really love Talmans. It's one of those models that basically gets rid of what i hate about regular strats and teles, but without charging over 1500 for it like Fender does. All with a unique and nice looking shape.

Hilariously, those pickups sound more or less identical to the hand made '54 repro's in a 90's mij 54 fender I have. This is a good thing, and you're right about the middle pickup, it's rare when that's the secret sauce
@gringogreen4719Ай бұрын
Two things. Ibanez has other Talman models of guitars for less with other options, so if you like the style, you can do those. Samick also makes a compact Strat style guitar called the Malibu that is much less than the YY Talman. It has more of a smaller, skewed Strat body (bigger than a Duo Sonic, smaller than a Strat, the body shifts a little more towards the back bottom) that has S/S/S & H/S/S pickup selections. If you find an older one, you might find Duncan Designed pickups in there. I have one and it makes a great compact Silver Sky alternative (I did load it out with a Filtertron, a Little 59, and a Quarter Pounder) that is pretty flexible for modding. It did take a GFS "Shorty" brass block perfectly but you really need to stick to smaller pots, so I went with Bournes mini pots in my guitar (also an Import switch, a Grigsby is too tall).

Talmans are awesome, the prestige models were great! If you ever get a chance, try a samick radio 10 or tv 20- blues saraceno model. Great fat neck, similar dimensions to talman…fun guitar
@highernoonАй бұрын
What seems special about the neck (to me) is that there's only 1 mm difference between the 1st fret and the 12th fret., my RG has 2 mm difference and my SG has about 3 mm. My RG has an Edge zero bridge with a pop-in arm, but it has a screw-on cap - like the original Floyd Rode - but it is used to adjust the tightness of the arm. To me it feel like an ideal solution.

What are your thought's on the narrow nut width? If I recall correctly, the nut width is 1 5/8 inches, which is not really standard on most guitars, save for G&L guitars and Music Man guitars. As a guy with bigger hands but plays G&Ls, I've gotten used to it, but I can imagine for most it would feel a little cramped...
