Presentation :
A small medieval town located between Thonon and Geneva, Yvoire occupies a spur that juts out into Lake Geneva. During the Middle Ages, this strategic position plunged it into the center of wars between House of Savoy and the lords of Faucigny allied to the county of Geneva. It was Count Amédée V, at the beginning of the 14th century, who made it the fortified town that can be admired today.
After the Second World War, the inhabitants, and especially the women, gradually decorated their houses with flowers. In 1959, Yvoire was awarded for the first time in the Flowered Towns and Villages Competition and won 1st place. Since 1974, the village has been ranked 4 flowers, the highest distinction in the competition.
Today Yvoire has been part of the Most Beautiful Villages of France association for more than 30 years. This small village aspires calm and relaxation. Let yourself be intoxicated by the subtle blend of colors and scents as you stroll through the entirely pedestrian historic center, while discovering surprising views of the nature of Lake Geneva and the Alps. Gastronomy is also in the spotlight with the famous perch fillets, a specialty of Lake Geneva and with other regional dishes. A delicious moment to awaken the senses.

Yvoire Located on the shores of Lake Geneva, this charming medieval village of 1,000 inhabitants is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Bloom" and The Most Beautiful Villages of France (see below). Ideally located at the mouth between the large lake (to the east) and small lake (to the west), Yvoire had great military importance at the end of the Middle Ages.It was in the 12th century that its castle was built, while the village was fortified in the 14th century. In the 16th century, the village was attacked by the Genevans and the French who burned the castle. This is how Yvoire ended up losing its role as a military sentinel on Lake Geneva. You will probably be delighted by your visit Out of season, the village is certainly a little sad because there are few people, but on sunny days, the village comes back to life and is teeming with people. Take the time to stroll through its pretty medieval streets lined with restaurants and shops. lakeside, enjoy the port and let yourself be lulled by the lapping of the waves ue.

Это Женевское озеро ;-) До этой деревни проще всего добраться на кораблике из Женевы или Ньона, который как раз на противоположном берегу озера. Я там был в доковидные времена, фильм навеял приятные воспоминания.
