Yvon, do you know the magnet trick? Check the would-be sterling candlestick by holding a magnet to it. If it's plated, it will be magnetic. Many of those pieces i always called, "weighted and plated", but not sure on that one, cause the silver is so white? But it's purdy and for that price, hey. ( : That made in German Democratic Republic pottery you got for your Mom is Cool. I'm thinkin' Laura Caldwell bought a pottery something, very similar to that. Right up her alley too. Glad I found you. I was thinning my channels, then saw yours. What can I say? Lol

Hi Hi Yvon 👋 The umbrella term we use in Canada is Indigenous, with 3 distinct Peoples in that umbrella: Inuit ("Eskimo") First Nations status or non-status (I think Americans still use the un-PC term "North American Indian"), and Metis ("Half-breeds"). Metis are pre-confederation FN and typically French or British unions and their direct descendants. Metis are not mixed cultures, that's just mixed cultures. In casual talk we may just call ourselves Native. Hope that helps 🙂

I’ll have to read that a couple more times, but thank you so much, that was a lot of information ❣️❣️❣️❣️

Why would you think the candlestick marked Alvin Sterling was plated???
@YvonThriftyRich2 жыл бұрын
Well I’m still learning about markings on those kind of things especially European ones, there seems to be different markings that mean different things and I couldn’t read all the rest of it until I got at home with a magnifier… It sure looked like silver, smelled like it and had decent weight, although it could be weighted at the bottom with something else… I just don’t want to assume until I do full research so that’s why I say that, but that brand seems to be pretty reputable 💚
@Patricia.resells2 жыл бұрын
@@YvonThriftyRich I see. Well, Alvin is the manufacturer. Sterling refers to the metal. Items that recent don't have the pictorial hallmarks.
