I’ve owned a 93,95,99,00,01,05,06 and 08 yz 250’s that I’ve set up very close to a 250x for desert riding and racing, my currant bike is a clean 96 wr 250z 2 stroke that I found and installed a brand new in package GYT longrod kit for a 94 yz250 that was the go too mod for smoother power, it s 5mm I think longer than the stock ones.

I did hard enduro on YZ x for 3 years. The main problem you can't over come is the shitty 5 spd transmission. First isn't low enough and 5th isn't high enough. You can put a 300 kit in it, an electric starter, bla bla bla, but you still can't get around that transmission! And that goes for the new Fantic too! My hard enduro riding has gotten so much better since I got on a KTM. Yes I miss the YZ suspension, but everything else I don't miss. I also found the clutch side engine case super easy to damage with rocks. It seems to stick out more than a KTM. I even punched a hole through the Rekluse cover and they are really strong.

I’ve always thought that clutch fade was a symptom of friction and drive plate heat rather than actuation method. No doubt hydraulic actuators are much easier to maintain actuation force regardless of environmental factors but it doesn’t help with fade (just ask my hydraulic driven clutch on my HD 😏) Does the yz250x still have the 1 touch cable adjuster the old bikes had?
@Unqualified2ride Жыл бұрын
Not sure what the one touch adjuster is but mine can be adjusted by just a knob super easy. And yea I’m not a engine mechanic or engineer but I thought clutch fade was from the heat and the cable clutch dosnt dissipate heat and adjust for clutch fade
@TheStephenspann2710 ай бұрын
The hydrualic clutch doesn't effect the fade at all, it just compenates for it automatically vs the cable which does not.

I don’t think they care. But they should. The market for hard enduro is growing and growing fast. A YZ300x with electric start, hydro clutch, 6 REAL enduro gears, and a stator is what they need to make. It would sell like hot cakes. I mean even if they kept the 250 engine but updated it and kept it under $11k. It would demolish the euro bikes
