YZ450F Supermoto Build: Engine Rebuild Pt. 2! Top End Ep. 16

HAVE YOU GUYS MISSED THE YZ450F SUPERMOTO BUILD?!? Well it's back with a bang today... Top End is dialed in and I went back into the bottom end to fix a few issues. You should maybe put some silicone on that valve cover gasket, where are those ”half moon” things. Lot of ktm s have started to leak when they have checked those valves and forgot to put some extra silicon there

It may not be an issue on those yamahas, but if u open it after break in, it may start leaking, and that is soo annoying when the oil gets everywhere :D

hey man I know I'm pretty late to the party, but I'm actually about to tackle an engine build on my own yz450f and I was wondering what specific tools will I need to make sure to have? (i.e.-torque wrench ranging from xx-xx ft/lbs, feeler guages (metric or sae, digital caliper, ring compressor, etc.) If you see this, I would really appreciate the help!!

FULL THROTTLE FILMZ it still runs but the motor needs some love , it now starting to give me problems staying running or has a lean bog but I think I got the carb cleaned and adjusted right to keep her running a bit longer till I can get the money for a rebuild cuz I gotta hav the crank pressed

It was set wrong, then turned over to check, then we repositioned the cams off camera. Bike has been going 10 hrs strong now runs like a top. Good catch bud

sanding the cyl might be the dumbest thing I've seen... steel valves without stiffer springs? no loctite on cam chain guide bolt? washing the head while its fully assembled ? why why???? people may know how to put these engines together, but that doesn't mean its gonna be done right.... this engine was built so backwards but it does look sick. hope it lasts

Nate Bennett first of, I literally explain in the beginning of the video that I changed the valve springs, they are the kibblewhite springs meant for the stainless steel valves. Nothing was built backwards.. yeh i washed the head because i again replaced all the internals so whats the problem? Loctite? Man its going to be fine. Listen this is mexico we don’t always do shit 100% by the book because we can’t, we make it work. I promise you this engine will last and is going to be a beast. Thanks for expressing your concerns. @@FULLTHROTTLEFILMZ idk man the grit off that sandpaper is imbedded in the nikasil now, compression will go down in abt 20-30 hrs. listen i build motors for a living. im just trying to give advice

Nate Bennett yeah I am listening and all I can say is we didn’t have a 450 size hone to do the cylinder so we used a super fine grit and I personally did NOT see any grit left behind on the cylinder plating. I’m sure you’re right but I did the best job I could. Thanks for explaining more. I’m no pro and don’t claim to be one.

@@FULLTHROTTLEFILMZ no yea man its all good, i just hate seeing people make mistakes like that cause more often than not they'll come back to bite ya! haha. but yea typically you won't see it, especially a super fine grit, but sandpaper isn't meant for that and the grit does lodge itself in the cyl, not to mention its very hard to get a even uniform hone with that method.
