Good realistic story about self defence rules. Very sad about John Slater after such a long run in this series.

Wonder if the audience was missing John Slater yet? He'd been unofficially written out by this stage (poor health) but he still had 4 weeks yet to live. 14:30 The female characters here must have had some interesting direction from Christopher Barry. "You can do overwrought, can't you dears?" 27:35 Nicholas Smith is a messy eater. That sausage roll is going everywhere. Pastry too flaky, I reckon. You can tell this wasn't actually made in the North. 36:48 Not sure why the cops are suspicious about McCann's incomplete job. I mean, who'd want to go to Stoke? Maybe because his wife is doing an impression of Orville The Duck. 41:03 Boom mic in shot. Maybe Nick Brimble really IS 6'3" and the operator on that set didn't realise. It's an odd one this, tales of vicious beatings and comedy Irish characters every so often. Perhaps it seemed less tonally inconsistent at the time when sympathy for crims was in even shorter supply than it is now.
