The only way to do this is to stretch the video output to widescreen. This is a terrible idea for any shmup that isn't already widescreen by default because then your left/right movement inputs will not feel right compared to your up/down movements, and the game will look stretched and awkward. This is a vertical shmup with a vertical aspect ratio, there is no version that "converts" this to proper widescreen. The closest to what you're asking is the recent PS4/Switch M2 Shot Triggers port, which adds all sorts of gadgets and gameplay data in the sidebars, but the game itself is still in the same vertical aspect ratio in the center of the screen.

@@fuzzbear677 To do that you would have to physically rotate your screen. However you're playing this (either the M2 port or through emulation), you should have the option to then rotate the video display output to match your screen orientation. I don't have the port (yet) so I don't know where this option would be found -- probably in the video options/settings. In e.g. MAME, it's in the "Video Options" selection when you press Tab after launching the ROM. If you're playing this game some other way, you'll have to look it up on Google. Search for "rotate video display" or "TATE mode" for more details.
