Definitely appreciate them making a front ported pair, I own both the B5 and B6 and switched them out for Polk S15's with the matching center, mainly due to the porting. They are in my office now and I still love them, but had these been out when I got the Polls I probably would have bought them
@nozua6 жыл бұрын
good to hear about front ported speakers being good for this situation, because I bought the Jamo C103s when they went on crazy sale, and I LOVE them, but I have to have them so close to the wall due to limited space. and I can tell the sound is not nearly as good as it could be, certain frequencies are way louder than everything else. so I've been thinking about getting front ported speakers to solve that problem
@danepher5 жыл бұрын
why not use an equilzer to down some frequencies?

The front port and the redesigned tweeter is what really sold me on these. You’re right they are great for HT with a sub in the mix, the imaging and soundstage are above their price point IMO. Also I got mine for $279 at B&H on special.

In my opinion. Not only does the Polk Audio S20's look better than the ELACs. They actually sound better. Comparing the 2 it was almost as if the ELACs were missing something. Something in how Andrew Jones tuned them is different.

I have both now. The Elacs are little brighter, but are very natural sounding. They did take some break in time. The Polks are soothing and soft I can listen to them all day. The Elacs my ears with start to fatigue but in a good way. Loving action flicks and records on the Elacs. I really like having both. They are so different. The Polks are beautiful and The Elacs don’t look as nice, but they are still made well .

Hey Zeus, have you tried the Monoprice Monolith subs? I'm really on the fence between the monolith 10" and the SVS PB-1000s.
@graphicism6 жыл бұрын
Lol Monoprice vs SVS is like Chevy vs Rolls Royce.
@brunoyuji92036 жыл бұрын
graphicism It seems you don’t know the new Monolith subwoofer line from Monoprice. Everyone that has compared it to the 1000 line up from SVS has said they’re quite comparable and the FR goes lower than the 1000 series. They’re also on par with the budget line from Rhythmik. Before criticizing lookup Monolith 10 vs PB-1000 on google and you’ll see avsforum, Audioholics and many other reputable websites praising it.
@graphicism6 жыл бұрын
Bruno Yuji Yeah I'm sure they sound alright. But we're comparing years of dedicated audio engineering vs "yeah, I guess it would be cool to make a subwoofer".
@brunoyuji92036 жыл бұрын
I'm not saying SVS isn't miles ahead of Monoprice in audio engineering, but that doesn't mean Monoprice can't just hire very good audio engineers, reverse engineer Rhythmik's subwoofer designs and make something that can sound as good as SVS subs for a lower price. DIY subs can sound better than subs from actual companies what's to prevent a newer company from also making a very good sounding sub. I was also super skeptical about the Monolith sub series, but after reading all these reviewers praise it and even choose it over the budget options from super high end sub manufacturers you have to admit it's pretty impressive. The Monoprice Monolith subs also got THX certification which was only given to mostly high end expensive subs, so the "yeah, I guess it would be cool to make a subwoofer" is not really on point. Anyway I hope Zeus gets his hands on them and reviews them, because clearly nothing I say here will change your mind about it and you probably won't bother to look it up at all.

Bought a pair from Crutchfield 3 days ago and I'm already breaking them in. Now backoredered. Then they ran out and bought a pair from Audio Advisor, but they are backordered also. Really an improvement over my 4 Pinnacle AC-650 which are 30 years old. I bet the next killer from Andrew Jones will be a Uni-Fi B6, with a 6.5" woofer and a front port. The B6.2 have a front port and I need that having the speakers on a shelf. I only have a hour on the new 6.2s, but the treble is a little weak. I'm using an EQ now. Maybe the high end will open up. These things must be the value of the century. I'm using my Marantz 19 with 50wpc, but I'll be hooking up my Parasound HCA-1000a with more power.

I just got to audition these again tonight... On second listen, these are about the most boring speakers I have ever encountered in my life. Dull, bland, lifeless. I think Pioneer did such a fine job of marketing the legend of Andrew Jones in those cheap theater speakers they did a few years back that ELAC has been able to con people into thinking that anything he does in the value space is going to be magic... this speaker isn't. Boring, bland, lifeless, nothing to be that excited about, and the Uni Fi sounds pretty much identical. You can do better.

z, if you havn't heard the Adante AS61 at $2500 or the AF61 at $5k, you're in for a surprise. they are bargains at their price points. and crutchfield has no shipping cost (probably one way). it seems that the younger generation including you like to have phat bass. on my klipsch 2.1 computer speakers, i have to turn the bass almost all the way off to get it flat. on my last three car stereos, i have had to turn the bass to minus 4-5 for the same result. i first heard the B5s with a bel canto 100wpc amp and i was floored. we looked to see if he was using a sub, you know the feeling. i have heard nearly all versions of Andrew's speakers and yet to hear a bad one except on the first day after the design was finalized. his meteoric bloom from the beginning of his pioneer BS21 days to present day elac presence has had him at the edge of severe sleep deprivatrion.
