Klipsch is known to have a very forward treble sound. The Monitor Audio treble is more neutral, that may be why they sound a little dull on the top end to you, you are used to the Klipsch sound

They're called "Bronze" because of Monitor Audio's long standing naming convention Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum. It would be interesting to see a comparison between the Bronze and the Silver line. I have a pair of MA RX1s that I use for desktop speakers that I really like.

I paid £155 for these a few months ago. I have them in my workshop on a shelf against the wall due to having nowhere else to put them. I have to put the foam in the bass port to keep it under control (you are advised to do this in the paperwork too) and I have no complaints with them, they’re awesome. It’s an interesting review and I think I would agree about the imaging to the size of the room, but I would turn them slightly inwards, it would probably help. I will be turning mine upside down though, the tweeters would be ear level for me then. Buy them, you won’t be disappointed. 👍

I really enjoy your videos. Not crazy about the foul language, but I'm old-fashioned. Anyway, two words regarding speakers: Ohm Audio. I've been living with a pair of their Microwalsh Tall mini-tower speakers, their smallest speaker, for a few weeks now and I'm beginning think these guys have it right and everyone else has it wrong. Coherent, cohesive, detailed, open, phase and time-aligned, with strong bass. Most of the sound comes from one driver, with a super-tweeter providing ultra high frequencies. A very un-boxy sound, which makes sense since the the drivers aren't in a box.

I had BR2s for years on a computer audio interface (Echo Audiofire 4) into Vestax DJ mixer as a pre-amp then into a BSS EPC 780 PA amplifier. (Serious bit of kit.. toured with Pink Floyd, Oasis etc.... Damping factor over 1800 (at a 2 ohm load!!). 1500W RMS a channel into 2 ohms, 1000W into 4 ohms. The power ratings were very conservative... It can be a absolute beast.. designed to run 4 Turbosound 2x18" horn subwoofers on 1 amp all night and all through the next day. This setup sounded smooth, dynamic, detailed, and immediate. The grip on the bass was phenomenal. Then when turned up.. I mean right up.. the whole sound just scaled and was just jaw dropping that this sound was coming out of a small set of bookshelves. This was in a medium/smallish room. I now own Silver RX6s hooked up to a Marantz PM6007 and a CD6007. I still have the Echo soundcard connected too for streaming music from Tidal. Honestly, this setup is utterly disappointing. I expected soooo much more in terms of detail and insight into the music. It does have it's plus points, I like the transience of the Silvers.. I find the low end a bit bloated down lowish and the very rare lowest bass notes just aren't present.. you can tell they are below the tuning. The Marantz amp, although I do like it's character... Just disappoints me when I turn it up loud as I like it. I find this with all hifi amps... I miss my BSS amp... it really was an unbelievable peice of kit and made my speakers sing. So I'm not sure if I agree that the Silvers are better than the bronze series. Especially considering I had the BR2 which is the previous generation to the RX6.

Just bought these after seeing your (and a few other people's) reviews, and much as I love your reviews, I also love these. Granted, I've only had them six hours, and was underwhelmed at first, but after about three hours, some repositioning, and some toeing in (as suggested on another review), they are already coming into their own long before the 75 hours often suggested for running in. I won't be running them ear-bleedingly loud, as I live under an old lady, with neighbours each side and thin walls, but I listen to Tool, et. al., and even single-wired to my 45wpc Marantz amp (60wpc if I biwire them), I bet that I COULD. You have not experienced chuffing until you have heard Tool played on a PS4 from a no-name £200, 22-inch TV through HDMI.

I have the earlier iteration of the Bronze, and *in my room* I had the opposite problem to you. Fine for movies/TV viewing, but they completely overpowered the small room with music - I was acutely aware of the fact that I lived in an apartment block. Headphones have always been my primary playback tools, but I was disappointed that I had to keep the volume down on my 50W Marantz amp 95% of the time. Much better to have a larger room and struggle to find speakers that do justice to it (assuming its not warehouse/barn sized!) than the opposite, IMO, and I fear that many of us are in the latter basket. You should try these on the desktop and you'll quickly realise what I'm on about - they just arent nearfield speakers, IMO, despite your experience with your couch 'up close'. I'd love to hear these with my electronics in a room that was about 3/4 the width of yours and the same depth. Looking forward to the sound demo.

You said you would like to try other MA speakers, I can tell you try the larger Silver bookshelves. They are fantastic. I have the previous get Bronze series, with the white cone drivers, and honestly they are better than the new ones. I am not sure why MA downgraded the Bronze series drivers. The previous gen Bronze have a better mid and high clarity, the tweeter is the same but crossover is different. As far as the Silvers, well they are a refined sound, the base is great, you do not need a sub, very very clean in its price range. The tweeter looks the same, but it is not of the same build, the Bronze uses a cheaper earlier version of their tweeter where the silver use their "final" version so to speak. Of course its not going to shred like a horn from a Klipsch or Martin Logan's Ribbon, but it is more pleasant to listen to, especially over a longer session of music. I would be interested however in your review, as my ears are different than yours. It's good to get multiple viewpoints to cover a broader user base.

Do you know the difference between bronze, silver and m2? What are their characteristics? I'm looking for something in their series that are warm, smooth, soft, golden. Hate new speakers hiss and sibilance.

do you worry about your kitchen's smoke damaging your equipment? I've been wondering about that stuff for a while. Maybe a good extractor does the job?

Hey man, quick question. I was in the store today and I heard the Monitor Audio's as an alternative to the Klipsch RB 81 (which I ca'n't see to get at a decent price here in Switzerland. I can bi wire my speakers thanks to a preamp but hearing your thoughts on the Klipsch I am not sure which to get. - I've also tested the 160's which were lovely too but a little steep for budget. Wondered what your thoughts were? Btw, I am in love with LS50's by Kef. :)

Any insight on the monitor audio bronze series 5? I think you would absolutely love them, same stupid good looks but with more power, which seems to be your only complaint. Would love to hear your opinion on this as those are the ones Im thinking on getting, to be paired with a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II.

At 6:49 you can see the cat looking at the mab2 owner and he is clearly thinking inumerous ways to fuck the mab2.. use protection because your cat is just waiting to you leave the room without the protection

Putting together a new 2.1 PC/desktop audio/gaming/music system. Would you go with the Klipsch RP-160M or MA Bronze 2? Parasound 275v2 will drive them. Thanks for your help!!

Have you heard the monitor audio bronze, and will you do a review?

Would these be of any use as a 2.0 set up for mostly movies or would I be best getting the mointor 4 or 5 for the added mid range and bass? Don't intend to use a sub. You probably won't answer as this video is over a year old I've just noticed! 🙈😂

Hi Man Need your help as you’ve heard both speakers I’m interested in… I am a sound engineer and I have a dedicated studio (large, acoustically treated, use Barefoot MM45’s and a large Monitor audio Silver series 5.1 system - all good) BUT… I’m setting up a small home studio set up in my flat. My main room is about the same size as your room. SO I want to do a bit of mixing but it’ll also be my home hifi and TV sound. I’m pretty sure I want to buy the ADAM T7V’s but I’m thinking I want a hifi sound too and I’m thinking Monitor Audio Bronze 2’s. The question is - do I need both sets of speakers? Will the T7V’s feel nice as hifi? I’m happy for them to be my mixing monitors. The thing is I like to test my mixes on monitors and hifi. The speakers will probably both be on stands right in front of a wall with perhaps an acoustic panel behind them. Should I buy both? Or do I not need too? generally I mix quietly. No need to get big loud as my neighbours would complain. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I know you love the T5V’s but I think the 7’s are the way I’d like to go. Thoughts?

In a small room ( 12f x 12f x 8f) with somewhat bad acoustics would you recommend these or the Kef Q300? These will be used with a vinyl only setup and I will be purchasing a f-12 subwoofer.

What are your favorite speakers in this bookshelf size? I know that's like asking which is your favorite kid (or cat). Money no object.

One question, which is better for gaming and music? SHP 9500 or HD668B's?
