Nice review, and I can identify with your fathers experience having purchased a 2001 M-roadster as a graduation gift to myself when I retired in 2008. One correction, only the 2001 and 2002 M-roadsters had the S-54 Engine with 315 hp with a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds. Your fathers M-roadster being 2000 had 240 hp with a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds.

Pre face lift 6 cylinder z3’s have the exact wide body rear end. The exact same bulge over the wheels as an M roadster. The early 4 cylinder engines have the skinny rear end. I have a 99 z3 with the exact rear end as the M. There were a total of 3 different rears on the z3 roadsters.

RIP Papa Strad, what a cool story of what an amazing man he was. I hope one of you guys or your mom still have the car! Just found this because I'm about to pickup a M Roadster. My mom had a 4 cylinder z3 growing up and I have a bunch of memories with that car, so have always wanted a M Roadster for the memories and the enthusiast parts. Great video Mike!
