Cool! You need to try to make it run some 1bit chiptunes from ZX scene while I'll go and ask Yerzmyey if he knows about it ;-)

If you follow the link in the description, you'll learn that's about the plan, a bit more creative though. Running existing ZX Spectrum 1-bit engines there is easy.

I wonder if you can created the .cpp driver to be emulated in mame
@shiru8bit4 ай бұрын
@@flamaalt-hx9io I'm not much of an expert on the MAME driver structure to make a new one, and it would take an year to compile the thing on my PC, so I can't really attempt to do it, but it is totally possible, and a good idea, actually.

I wonder why the 3rd character from the right is always super dim...

These things use software-driven display multiplexing, and they weren't much reliable. So if Z80 gets a freeze by some reason, like a power spike, only one digit remains on, at constant full bright. As it is a phone, if no one at home, it could spend days in such state, and a digit would be to burn out. It was a common issue with these.

@@shiru8bit Interesting. I guess the only AON Z80 phones without the occasional burned-out digit are ones that were either incredibly lucky or barely in service if at all.

@@theocgaming9433 yep. Every single unit I have got a digit burned out to a degree.
