48 years I have played and sang the songs. Written jingles for your radio and TV commercials. I made you dance and got you laid, I made you cry and remember to love the one your with. I help fund your firehouses and starving children. I was there for the first dance when you got married. And when you buried your loved ones.....And in that time I watched the music slowly dying. But lately I have seen the truly talented and those who worked hard start coming back. You boys have made me smile, made me cry, and restored my faith in the youth today. Your the real deal!!!!

Before I even listen to this song, I want to say thank you. I chose this song to play at my dad’s funeral last year. He was only 58. Lung cancer took him in 4 months from diagnosis to hospice. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about or talk to him. Your covers have kept me smiling these past few months surrounding his 1 year anniversary. You guys are amazing and a gift to all of us. Thank you for all that you do.

I know what you mean! I'd been putting off watching this video because of how I viewed my father growing up, him being in the military during that time and all that; I just knew it would hit me like a ton of bricks, and I wasn't wrong. Now I'm going to share this on Facebook and dedicate it to him, because it wasn't until my daughter was born that I began to see how wrong I was about my dad, and how much I truly do love him.

To all who are commenting about their father's that they loved and lost, I offer my condolences. Though it is a natural part of life, that makes it not a bit easier. Mine is still alive, but this song made me think about the day that he will pass. He has been one of the greatest influences in my life, and would not know what I would do without him right now. I visit my parents nearly daily, (their house is on my way home from work) and I relish any time I get to spend with him. Love your music Home Free, sorry I missed you when you came to Redding. Come again and I will be first in line for tickets. Good day all.

He was a giant When I was just a kid I was always trying To do everything he did I can still remember every lesson he taught me Growing up learning how to be Like my old man He was a lion We were a father’s pride But I was defiant When he made me walk the line He knew how lift me up And when to let me fall Looking back he always had a plan My old man My old man Feel the callus on his hands And dusty overalls My old man Now I finally understand I have a lot to learn From my old man Now I'm a giant Got a son of my own He's always trying To go everywhere I go Do the best I can To raise him up the right way Hoping that he someday wants to be Like his old man My old man I know one day we'll meet again As he looking down My old man I hope he's proud of who I am I'm trying to fill the boots Of my old man My old man

This song kills me every time I hear it. After my niece's wedding, when the whole family came together to celebrate her wedding day, it was great! Then, when I had to leave back to San Diego from Sacramento, I said goodbye and hugged him. My old man wheeled himself out into the road, slumped over half way in his wheel chair, and stared at me as I drove away. I saw him in my rear view mirror as he got smaller and smaller. He just stayed there and stared, watching me drive away. I felt like a child that left his dog in the desert to die, because that child didn't have to courage to even say goodbye, or put it down with grace. I only pray I see my old man before he passes. He's 80 years old and is going down hill. Driving away and seeing him simply watch me drive away broke my heart. Nice job on this song "Home Free". I pray my two brothers and sister can get together to sing this together, in a harmony only a family can do, . . . . . for my old man.

Had not heard this one by Zac Brown Band. Yes it brought tears to my eyes. My father passed in 2005 on Thanksgiving Day. Needless to say the next Thanksgiving was very difficult. I can see him on his Farmall and feeding cattle with his favorite Irish setter hanging out with him as he took care of his cattle. Farming was his life and he taught all of us girls life is in what you grow and if you can’t do it right don’t do it all. Thanks for a wonderful reminder of how we need to keep our loved ones memories alive in our hearts. You all are so blessed by God with such natural talent. Thanks for sharing them with us.

It's been 14 years since I lost my father, and not a day passes that I don't miss him. It isn't often that I find songs that encompass the type of man he was, but this one does just that. Thank you guys for this. Thank you so much.

Lost my dad suddenly yesterday to a massive heart attack. Just a few days ago I talked to him on the phone and we talked about my boys and all sorts of things. The last thing he said to me was that he loved me and to give my boys a big hug and a kiss for him. He was an amazing father and grandfather and will be sorely missed by us all. I've been listening to this and the original on repeat today and sobbing uncontrollably. He was my rock and still my giant even grown and with kids of my own. I cherish the 35 years I got to spend with him and the giant shadow he cast in my life, but I will deeply miss him and wish my boys would be able to spend more time with him and grow up in his shadow, too.

I live in the Lake Oconee area of Georgia, and knew both Jim Brown, and Zac fairly well. Jim is the epitome of the lyrics of this song, and knowing Zac as I did, I can attest that he worshiped his Dad and probably always will. Sadly, Zac's career has taken him away form the multitudes of us who respected and admired him, and we've all pretty much lost touch. Still, we maintain that adoration and do our best to follow his career. You gentlemen have done a tremendous justice not only to the song, but to Zac and his dearly departed Father Jim Brown. He, too, would be proud to hear Home Free sing this song.

Last Thursday, March 1st 2018, we played this song on my dad's funeral. It describes exactly the relationship between my dad and me. Everybody was in tears. I'm sure you guys have a few new fans now. Thank you for the wonderful cover of an already wonderful song. Harm from the Netherlands.
