Yeah they would've been :) But no, unfortunately Lucy Fry left the show because she was going to film Vampire Academy and then after that no one knows why she didn't come back. Did the show end now? Because I haven't seen any new episodes but I really don't like the new girls. I miss Nixie and Lyla :(

Season 3 is still in the making and will be released 2016, season 2 is good though so give it a chance if you haven't watched it, they introduce another mermen right in the start! It's a short season though, I do hope they release the rest of the episodes soon, I don't think Mako Mermaids is on American T.V So I have to wait for it to update on Netflix :( I also wish they would continue H2O cause I loved RikkiXZane and Emma, but I must say that I like this spinoff series a tad more.

I stopped watching Mako mermaids when I found out that Lucy Fry(Lyla) left the show New comment 2 years later- I watched the entire series. Evie is still a boring girlfriend but much nicer. Hated her in season 1 but liked her in 2,3, and 4. I saw that her and Zac do love each other very much. She became a mermaid trying to save him. I wish she kept he mermaid tail. The plot lines are very interesting but I still wish Lyla and Nixie never left. They tried to make Lyla and Nixie clones with Ondina and Mimi but that wasn’t the same and at least Lyla was likeable(to me) Mimi was good though and she had to be there since spoiler, she is Zac’s sister. Later, Sirena leaves which sucks. I still think Zac and Lyla have something better than him and Evie, even without the mermaid/merman thing. A season 5 is needed.

It's so sad Lucy Fry won't be returning as Lyla in the second season. Her and Nixie will not be returning for season 2. They better NOT kill them off. Not so sure If I will watch the next season. He denied it at first but Lyla was Zacks first and only true love. Then as he slowly began to accept it, he found out they were mermaids. Then he accidentally hurt her and he began to accept it all over again. I understand Lucy left to make Vampire Academy, but she could’ve come back after that was done. Maybe she lost interest and didn’t want to do it. If they ever get around to making that goddamn movie, I want all of them in it. Ricki, Cleo, Emma, Zac, Lyla, Nixie, Mimmi, Ondina, Evie, Rita, Weilan, the pod. Everybody. I want to see them all. This has to be made and if this movie gets made we better see Zac and Lyla #Zyla become a couple or to swear to Poseidon and every creature in the bloody ocean, that there will be a lot of VERY unhappy fans.
