Awesome job. There's so much more strategy involved in tearing down a house then I thought. You would have thought the neighbor could have moved the van over for just in case that side of the house went wrong but you done great and kept it in the footprint of the house👍

That was probably vermiculite insulation. Vermiculite was a mineral that was mined. Much of the vermiculite found in old homes has been found to contain asbestos. So avoid breathing the dust created when disturbing it. In our state they require abatement prior to any work being done. The EPA website has a lot of information about vermiculite and how it got linked to asbestos.

@zaccheus

Excellent idea! I did check and it was tight. The real problem turned out to be the radiator plugging uo with dust. The radiator on that think is near 4 inches thick and stuff was just getting stuck way down inside. And I couldn't get to it with the blower on the job.

@marymulrooney1334 I've enjoyed all of your comments, Mary 😊 I have a small excavating business, and I do a little bit if tree climbing too. I started this channel when I had a full time tree service and my own crew. Since then I've backed down to just subcontractor work and re invested in excavating equipment. I have more experience in commercial excavating. I just couldn't afford the equipment for a long time. I coukd afford chainsaws though!

With the amount of dust, possible asbestos in an old building and no water spray, at least wear a mask if not a respirator. As you age, what you do today will catch up with you and your health. Cheers

@billyword7428 I'd love to shut the door but it's not a sealed cab and the AC doesn't have a prayer of keeping up with the sun shining through the glass and the heat that the motor under the seat radiates into the cab. I probably should have worn some PPE though 😬

@zaccheus
@zaccheus 2 ай бұрын
What would you have further stripped on the inside?
@kylemills3356
@kylemills3356 2 ай бұрын
@@zaccheus everything mate all internals out and separated all waste. I’m from England our Demo rules might be different from yourself across the pond buddy. But here we do a thing call soft strip, which involves all internals to be stripped out and waste separated. Once the building is back to a bare shell it gets knocked. We have timber skips, hardcore skips, metal skips and general waste. And when the building is down we do a thing called picking, which is on the pile picking the hardcore clean of any timber etc, the hardcore then goes into a crusher it’s then either sold or left for the client to use on the next project. Our Health and Safety would shut the site down if we where knocking the building with no dust suppression 😌
@kylemills3356
@kylemills3356 2 ай бұрын
And we have a lot of asbestos in our old buildings so there has to be a full survey done by asbestos engineers before we start to identify where it may be and then a azzy team tents up, suits up and removed it
@zaccheus
@zaccheus 2 ай бұрын
@kylemills3356 We have some regulations like that. A lot of it depends on the local governing bodies. If I were to do this one again I definitely wpukd have put a greater effort into getting dust suppression lined up prior to start. That was an oversight on my part for sure.
