East Side of Sorrow
18 years old full of hate, they shipped me off in a motorcade
They said boy you’re going to fight a war
You don’t even know what you’re fighting for
I lost friends in the august heat
At night it was god I’d always meet
I said lord won’t you bring me home
I’ve got women in the west I wanna hold
And I lost you in a waiting room after sleeping there for a week or two
Doctor said he did all he could you were the last thing I had that was good
So I walked miles on the tulsa streets
Light started beaming in from the east
6am and fucked up again asking god where the hell he’d been
He said the sun’s going to rise tomorrow
Somewhere on the east side of sorrow
You better pack your bags west stick out your chest and then hit the road
The suns going to rise tomorrow somewhere on the east side of sorrow
Don’t give it a reason to follow
let it be and then let it go
Let it be and then let it go
Heard your brother lost his mind in the city last fall
Was it his blood or his conscious or the alcohol
Did the navy do him well or did he wind up sick
Like every other brave boy from these run down sticks
Do you ever get tired of singing songs
like all your pain is just another fucking sing along
If you ever get the time come on home
I heard turnpikes back together and they’re writing songs
He said the sun’s going to rise tomorrow
Somewhere on the east side of sorrow
You better pack your bags west stick out your chest and then hit the road
the sun’s going to rise tomorrow
Somewhere on the east side of sorrow
Don’t give it a reason to follow
Let it be then let it go
Let it be then let it go

I’m staying awake by my dad’s bedside tonight to give him medicine every couple hours. Mom needs the rest. He’s got tonight and maybe tomorrow. Zach and everyone else commenting on this song, thank you. These stories are helping. The sun’s gonna rise tomorrow.

After my cancer diagnosis and recovery things have never been the same. Im in pain almost constantly. It has strained my marriage to the point of divorce. She has not has interest in intimacy in 3-4 years. I have been jobless for a couple years now but currently in a internship (Im about to graduate with bachelor's degree). My kids are depressed because they can see everything going on. My brother died a year ago. My dad currently has cancer, my mother is in bad health and they live in poverty. I have lynch syndrome and probably won't live to see 65. Everyday is hard but I keep going.

Psilocybin saved my life. I was addicted to heroin for 15 years and after Psilocybin treatment I will be 3 years clean in November. I have zero cravings. This is something that truly needs to be more broadly used in addiction treatment.

I’m not a vet; or a man; and I avoid alcohol … but I know death, pain, sorrow, hope, disappointment …anyone can relate to this if they are a human. this song makes me legit cry every time I hear it- my daughter introduced me to Zach Bryan and we can’t wait to see his first show in Chicago next year.

I lost my grandmother this past year and that second verse hit so fucking hard. This is why Zach is absolutely for the boys. He’s one of the only artist that captures what pain for guys actually feels like. As melancholic as this song is, it’s also hopeful def my favorite song of the album. We’ll get through this together boys….cheers.

What an amazing song. I lost my daughter at 6 months old, she spent the first 3 months of her life in the NICU 1.5 hours away and I was AD military so I couldn’t spend nearly as much time with her as I wanted. I felt alone and singled out. Felt like nobody knew how I felt. This song makes me feel so much less alone. Wish I could have a conversation with Zach and thank him

Everyone else might get a different message from this song but for me I feel like it’s saying that life moves on and the sun will always rise and that you need to move on from your sorrows and troubles. After looking at other comments my troubles are very minor compared to others but I’ve been struggling with it for almost a year now. I’ve now decided I just need to move on and two lines from this song that kind of represent my decision are “don’t give it a reason to follow” and “let it be and let it go” and that’s what I’m doing, I’m gonna let my problem go and don’t give it a reason to follow me anymore
@jachzohnson
@jachzohnson 2 ай бұрын
Exactly! Live in the moment and learn and practice forgiveness for yourself, your past mistakes, people that hurt you and betrayed you! Let it go, it's not your burden to carry but the Lord. Don't worry about tomorrow because the troubles of today are sufficient! The windshield is much larger than the rear view mirror for a reason and how will we stay safe on lifes twisted roads if we don't look straight ahead? Stay on the straight and narrow path and do what God intended you and your strengths for! We were all made with different talents and abilities, but you will live your best life and help those whom have helped and loved you! You are, I am sure, in a unique position to make a difference in helping provide your time, talents skills etc. to help your family and friends around you. So you can always take of of others, but first, we must take care of ourselves. Empty the pot, fill the pot, empty the pot. Sometimes, you have to exam if there are cracks in your pot where water is leaking out or people are drawing from and robbing you of your emotional and spiritual energy in which case you might need to put some space between you and the person. But another thing I remember seeing on a sign was "No rain, No rainbow" and that really stuck with me. How we feel on one day or within one week can be drastically different with our stress and mentality sometimes but we can't take ourselves too serious and expect too much or put too much energy in perfection or what others think of us, dance like no one is watching! And keep on keeping on!!! You got this!💪🤜🤛✌️

And I lost you in a waiting room After sleepin' there for a week or two Doctor said he did all he could You were the last thing I had that was good So I walked miles on the Tulsa streets Light started beamin' in from the east 6 AM and fucked up again Askin' God where the hell he'd been He said the sun's gonna rise tomorrow Somewhere on the east side of sorrow You better pack your bags west Stick out your chest And then hit the road The sun's gonna rise tomorrow Somewhere on the east side of sorrow Don't give it a reason to follow Let it be, then let it go Let it be, then let it go sheeeeeeeeesh

This record has been making me kind of emotional. Not sure what chord this one struck exactly but my cheeks are getting wet yet again.
