Both artists have great and versatile careers so that is not "all they do." As far as this 8 minutes of improv goes, its pretty much Zach playing hard and fast and doing whatever he wants (taking short breaks to adjust his gear) and Carson doing a stunning job at putting improvised melody on this chaotic rhythm. At times it'll a minute or 2, but then they both lock into a great musical idea.
@ericmsandoval

I don’t know if anyone else has commented on this but did any other drummers notice that Zach is playing a VERY low entry kit here? The hardware and cymbals in particular are pretty much Walmart First Act gear. You can tell by the wingnuts and the look of the brandless crash cymbal. Also the hihat clutch doesn’t even have the wing nut lol. But at least he still has his Iron Cobra. I say all this to say this man truly made this little beginner kit sound incredible lol.

Eric Sandoval Every show he does something breaks, whether it’s just a stick or he decides to tear up the whole kit and throw it around during concert.

i don't think i've ever seen zach play on a "normal" kit. there's always some trash cymbal or a drum that looks like it was $50 at the pawn shop. his toms are usually tuned so low that the quality of the drum wouldn't matter much anyway
@slidnut4525
@slidnut4525 3 жыл бұрын
Well he tends to purposely destroy his kit during his shows especially his DG shows. But also I feel like that’s the sound he’s going for ya know? Stuff like he’s play here is very garage band/jamming band stuff so why would he use a custom SJC for example? That’s why I like him, he showed me especially when I was starting out that I don’t need the best top of the line gear to sound great and be amazing.

Interesting in the sense that it’s a constant 9 minute onslaught of noise, possibly representative of the constant onslaught of exercise a Jamaican workout is, and how chaotic it feels. The different phrases represent the changes to new routines and such. Very interesting. or perhaps, it’s just noise.

Pretty noisy but still cool IMO, I prefer when Reinhart or Crow play with Hill cause they seem like reliable guardrails and don't resort to just playing a bunch of notes to try and keep up with Zach. They let Zach come to them :°) just my opinion though

this is a whole different beast compared to a lot of other zach stuff. Like the ladies, that album was actually started as rob crow recording over leftover drum tracks from the masculine drugs. When zach is just blasting this fast there is only so much a man can do. He makes noise that sounds melodic and compliments zach hills insane racket well! its a catastrophe but in an incredible way,
