Yeah he's not an all defensive team caliber defender but hes not bad and a down year was him shooting 39% when they weren't running plays for him. When he's got actions with Kyrie and Luka while the other is on the bench they are gonna run a lot of those screen actions to free him up to keep him engaged. I think early there will be some struggles but by Christmas I expect this to look like a top 3 seed in the west. OKC, Denver and Minnesota all still look like contenders so a top seed is far from assured since we turned over more than any of those.

Jesus Christ the stupidity by the guy on the right. THJ who is 33 was traded for Grimes who’s 24 which is Josh Greens replacement who is also 24, swapped out DJJ who is 27 for Naji who is 26 and traded Josh Green for Klay who is 34 they literally got younger and better in 2 of the swaps and Klay is miles better then THJ. The mental gymnastics this guy tried to do like the Mavs just traded all their youth is hysterical. There are only 3 guys on the roster who are over 30 who get playing time Kyrie, Klay & Maxi ( which I’m expecting them to trade now due to Omax the guy they drafted last year ) the rest of the roster is 26 years old and under.

Most of us are skeptical when someone tells us they're doing a good thing, and the amount of hate LeBron is getting for it now is testament to that. Now if he's told Rob Pelinka and the Lakers that he was willing, but told them to keep it on the Downlow, then it got leaked out at a later point, he'd have been a hero either way. But because he told us all BEFORE, now he just comes across as trying to make himself look good, and not even coming up with the goods in the end. So now him and Rob both look bad. Just sayin.

This is one of the few Klay trade breakdowns ive seen that actually runs through the risk factors eloquently. Yes Klay will fit in to their OFFENSE seamlessly in theory, but he will need to be excellent in a new role at his age and general decline. You also are admittedly giving up defense for offense if your the mavs on a team that just had a title run based on the defense making huge strides. It's a risk no matter how you cut it. Could pay off, may blow up in their face... This is the first podcast ive really heard at least from the big market players that puts it in to proper perspective. Wishing Klay the best, I can see why it could work out very well, I just think in todays NBA you need ELITE wind defense to truly contend and there is no way around the fact that they just got worse there - and this is a team that already had some big wing defense question marks to begin with.

@poorchris I think the defense is kinda overblown. The worst-case scenario is Klay becomes THJ 2.0. Can't hit the broad side of a barn, and is a cone on defense. I mean where is the down side?

Marshall and Grimes will do the heavy lifting and dirty work on defense. Thompson is a nice bonus. But they dont need him on defense. He will help them on offense with his spacing. He will replace the scoring when Ky or Luka are missing time.

I keep telling my friends that we needed more of Kyrie with the ball in his hands creating for others. Faster guy faster offense means more opportunities to go in and out, bringing the defense ala JJ Barea when he change the whole strategy of Miami on defense and help Dallas win the championship With a small guard running around guys squeezing through bodies like butter.

Lively and Gafford need to develop some post moves. Dallas needs to be dominate in the paint, instead of Luka and Kyrie driving to the hole. That would help a bit🤷🏾
