LP wasn't Chester's band. He was a part of it but Mike did the lion's share of the songwriting and production. If Mike wanted LP to continue with a new singer, then so be it. Alice in Chains and STP did the same after the deaths of their frontmen and they're still selling out tours.

@osulights4812 considering Grohl is the founding and only original member of the band, you are right... but Linkin Park is Mike's band. He was half the vocals and 90% of the songwriting. More like Alice in Chains than Foo Fighters. AiC was formed by Jerry Cantrell. He's the main songwriter and 50% of the vocals but his main vocalist Layne Staley died in 2002. Staley was a very unique voice much like Chester. Jerry Cantrell replaced Layne with William Duvall and kept the band's name.

Haters will never understand that Mike has been the foundation for Linkin Park since the beginning. Xero, Hybrid Theory, then to the name Linkin Park and Chester was the last member to join. It’s beautiful because “From Zero” is like “From Xero”. Where they started to where they are now and although Chester impacted so many and is a very iconic singer for the band. Emily literally crushes it and kills it in every way and was the absolute perfect choice for Linkin Park to pick themselves up and WANT to be there for fans again in a new era. It is extremely unfair to bash them for taking time to move on, and want Linkin Park to be around again and not give up. Love Emily and glad she is part of the LP Family.

Well, being the foundation of something doesn’t mean it’s entirely yours. There are numerous examples about that. Checkout Trent’ Nine Inch Nails - Hurt, and what Johnny Cash made of it. Trent later said that it was actually his (Cash) song now. They should have used another band name, because LP was a project in which Chester had a major role. If you remove the major role, then it’s not LP anymore. And I think it would have been more respectful to his son and mother… and the rest of the fans.

As a vocalist myself, I gotta say that bringing Emily was a wise choice. At first, her range is similar to Cherster's range and they also have a similiar arsenal of techniques. Actually, she reaches his notes easier the he used to do, cause... well, she's a woman. Biologically speaking, was more difficult to him to reach those high notes. I agree that the difficulty was a bright spot on his singing, cause we could see and hear that he was putting all his body on it. When I train to sing songs with female vocalists, I internalize that the notes and the technique might match, but the final touch will never be the same, and that's a good thing, because people understand that you're not the person you are imitating. That is, it leaves a signature, like a fingerprint. So, bringing all this point of view to LP, she was a really good choice, not only by bringing something new with her singularity tone to built a new era to LP, but also to honor and remember who Chester was. Singers, like other band roles, are swapped all the time in bands, famous or not, but hardly they're praised and respected like LP is trying to do. Honestly, if someone got a problem with her being the LP vocalist, stick to the old songs or try to contact them to do an audition and do it better, cause if you guys have so much taste and knowledge about LP, so why keep it hidden?
@orim7682Ай бұрын
I don’t even know why it works so well with her, but it does-and that’s something you rarely get to see. It’s like when Adam Lambert started singing for Queen. Objectively, he’s an outstanding vocalist, but replacing such an icon seems impossible. I know Emily will never replace Chester or the space he holds in our angsty teenage years, but when I heard some of the new tracks, they took me right back to records like Numb or Faint. That same vibe. Her voice just fits so well with the sound. I don’t know, something inside me just thought, this works.

Five years ago, during my senior year of high school, was when I first discovered Dead Sara. It's kind of a silly way how I discovered them, actually: I was watching cartoon clips on KZbin, and "Heaven's Got a Back Door" played in the outro of the video, so I thought, "huh, that kind of slaps, let me check this band out." I was immediately impressed, and I thought, "man, she would really kick ass on a Linkin Park song." I had absolutely no idea what would happen later on!

Emily is such a great addition to Linkin Park. They wanted a female.... obviously they weren't ever trying to replace Chester. Emily is the perfect fit. She can do so much. Dead Sara is an AWESOME band. I only hope they don't disband due to Emilys new priorities. Corey Taylor brought Stone Sour in after Slipknot retained fame but it did take awhile. Corey had to really solidify himself before he fronted another big time band. I can understand Emily needs to get comfortable...sell some big albums and once she really cements herself into the industry more it would be awesome if she brought in Dead Sara. In my opinion they're good enough right now. They have been for many years

What people don’t realize that when Emily was picked she wasn’t picked or chosen to be a replacement of Chester she was chosen to be His Successor. That is a difference that people overlooked when she was chosen having the thought process in that she will be his New Replacement when in reality she is there to fit the missing piece that was left behind for the group. It would be natural for her to try to find her rhythm in the first time singing with the group as a new comer you have to figure your place and such but soon enough she will be able to mold herself perfectly and I am already seeing that in her song Heavy is the Crown. Her vocal work is impeccable and yet different.

Listen and please feel my heart in this. Any band in a similar situation, which most aren't even near the level of LP, when they decide to press forward and make a switch, you can mirror the OG, you can go a slightly diff path, but everyone is mainly wanting to stay in lanes. With how volatile society is due to a lot of forced and immediate changes - it just shouldn't have been a female. Anytime before this, or a decent time after this period in history to allow justified folks to calm first regarding said societal issues, then alright. To make the change to female now during the height of the madness, whether legitimate first choice pick or not, will give an impression of fueling a fire & fanning DEI flames accordingly. Just plainly unwise and arguably rudely insensitive due to said issues, but gl to her and them now as the call was made. All of that aside, this was a male band, writing and creating music mainly targeting male experiences in various parts of life. We should have had a right to keep it that way, with this lady and all of her skill taking new dudes or dudettes to new heights they weren't previously without her.

I'm still not sure about a particular point someone made when they first debuted. Someone commented how she was(or still is maybe) a scientologist. And someone who is into that "religion" is a full on disrespect to Chester's memory of his efforts for mental health advocacy. I know she explained herself about the "Hyde" situation. But I don't recall if she ever mentioned her status with the scientology. They shame their followers for having mental conditions and deny the existence of mental health issues overall. So yeah, when I heard about all of this, it did seem like a slap in the face of what Chester Bennington suffered through, that this person was an ill-fit to take on the work and subject matter that Chester brought to Linkin Park. I've really laid off of any updates about LP since I learned of this. But if anyone knows any details of her current "religious status", please send the info. This is what's holding me back from wanting to give them a chance now.

Chester's suicide is tragic, but they have no obligation towards him. If a bass player dies, no one will question a band going on. Why here? This woman is such a good choice. It's hard to think of anyone else once you heard her sing. That scream on "Heavy is the crown" melts the synapses together, which were capable of thinking otherwise.

AC/DC for example. Chester was a big part of Linkin Park, and he cannot be replaced. But just because he decided to end his life does not mean the rest of the band and the fans have to suffer the consequences for it. They got a new singer that in my modest opinion does a pretty good job and gives the band a new kind of sound, and the band moves on. Just like so many other bands. The album is good, for sure, but Hybrid Theory, Meteora and Living Things are peak. Many of the other albums, especially One More Night, just don't have enough songs that go hard, or are just too experiemental. Emily is good, but Chester had a voice that just hits different. Linkin Park will never be the same, but I enjoyed most of the songs. Most.

The more the haters cry about her, the more I like her. I was lukewarm at first, but she's growing on me, and the haters are only helping her 😂😂😂😂

the haters are hating cause they actually are the biggest fans.

New drummer Collin bretain already said. He and emily and the rest of the band don't have mindset of changing or replacing anyone in the band. They are just a new member of the band Linkin Park. Simply as that. So emily haters. Cry all u want but that is a FACT!!!! admit it or not. That is a fckin' FACT!!!!
