Zach, another good review! To compare my experiences, we did Raw at Five on both EDGE and APEX and that’s enough. Good seafood, but pricy. On the EDGE, we tried Fine Cut Steakhouse and were honestly disappointed. We had a much BETTER cut of steak in LeGrand Bistro in it’s Le Petit Chef dinner mode, twice!! Since we were in Sky Suites and ate mainly in Luminae, we we given permission to try BLU which we loved, as well as Cypress on both cruise because of the superb Lamb Shank! The meat falls off the bone! I am curious to see what my dining options on the Beyond will be on the TransAtlantic crossing being in a Concierge class cabin. I have already selected one primary dining room, but with it being a crossing, food is the entertainment, so I want to try the other restaurants but I think I will skip the Michelin restaurant since you were unimpressed….

Thanks for a great review! We'll be on Beyond in October and am starting to research the restaurants so we know what to book. Appreciate all your thoughts! We do know we are going to try Rooftop Garden Grill; I'll keep in mind what you said about the ribs. BBQ is so different regionally, so sweet in one place is perfect, while tangy in another is the best. I'm pretty sure our group will all order a different plate then do family style to try it all.

Enjoyed your review. My experience on Le Voyage was completely different to yours. I was in a party of 4 and we all chose the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Each of us thought the quality of the food and wine was absolutely amazing. I’d say it was the best meal I’d ever enjoyed on a cruise. I’d definitely suggest giving it another try. I’m heading out on the Edge this week staying in a Sky Suite and cannot wait to try out Luminae and Blu. Keep up the excellent work.

food is definitely more upgraded on edge class ships. None of the food I received on Equinox was presented this nicely. I tried Murano, which was pretty good but I wouldn't say outstanding. If you are interested in it I would book it ahead of time. There was almost no availability for it once you get on the ship- especially if the cruise is fully booked.

Interesting video. If you believe Celebrity offer the best food at sea I'd really consider sailing on Regent, Silversea, Seabourne, Azamara, Oceania, Ponant or Hapag-Lloyd. All offer a superior dining experience. I suspect Ritz Carlton and Explora will also beat them when they're finally online too. But I'm not really being very fair comparing a mainstream 'premium' line to small class luxury and ultra luxury class lines am i?! :) It might be worth mentioning that Blu is not completely exclusive to aqua class guests. Suite guests are allowed to dine there on a space availability basis. If a suite guest wants to dine there they can have their personal retreat host arrange this for them. There are really six MDR's on Beyond as Luminae is the main dining room for suite guests and Blu is the main dining room for aqua class guests. In the nicest possible way, I'm surprised you were expecting a Michelin Star class experience onboard a Celebrity ship. I am aware that Celebrity claim they are trying to have it awarded to Eden, but anyone who knows anything about how their stars are awarded will know the challenges involved in receiving this award. And as they're hampered by being at sea and suffer from supply issues originating in Miami I find this unlikely. When we've dined there, service (and food) was well below that of our local Michelin Star awarded restaurants. But I guess you never know in the future....

Got off the Edge a coupe of weeks ago...Cruise to Italy and the Greek Isles...IMHO, the service was unmatched...the entertainment great and the food SUPERB....forget Carnival, NCL, RC, MSC and the rest...The best value for the top notch cruise you get...BEST LINE...To be honest...I use to sail in Aqua Class all the time...I stopped when they took away a ton of amenities....ALSO, I can dine in a specialty restaurant every night and it would be cheaper then to sail in Aqua Class. The regular Veranda is the same exact cabin as Aqua Class...I been sailing with Celebrity since the 90's...Just doesn't make sense to pay a HUGE upcharge to eat in Blu when I can dine in specialty every night for much cheaper...ALSO...I find the food in the 4 main dining rooms to be excellent...It took me a bit to realize Aqua class is just not worth the hefty price. Also, I am Elite Plus and I get a ton of amenities anyway...

Wow! An honest reviewer! Very few ever do anything but rave about everything, and they almost never discuss the misleading pricing (you don't get credit for the meals you paid for and didn't eat, obviously). I agree that food is important, but specialty dining is a scourge of the industry because it diminishes the overall experience for most people.

😮Eating at Blue is like eating at a specialty restaurant for free??? Excuse me but $50 x 7 nights = $350 if you ate at specially 7 meals. Aqua class is more expensive than $350. So it wasn’t eating at a specialist for free. Bad review for food when you eat at one restaurant 4 times, no dinner one night and the most expensive restaurant one night.

I hate it when someone takes a beautiful steak and smothers it in sauce. Sauce is a French word taken from the Latin salsa, meaning salted. It's purpose was to cover up the flavour of rancid meat. I had a nice big rib steak served to me once that came dripping with BBQ sauce. Just looking at it broke my heart.

I've been twice at Le Voyage, once for the $75 menu and then for the Chef Table ($139 !!). All was very good, but I join you on this idea that with that kind of price and story telling about the Chef and the restaurant, it's not as high as it should be. And it's a bad idea to do the menu and the chef table because in fact, Chef's Table is based on the same menu... that was the main disappointment ! I already tried other cruise lines "Chef's Table", always a bit expensive... but it's the first time they don't make the effort to have an exclusive menu, and just pick some items on the normal menu. Lazy and disappointing. But Celebrity, apart that, offers so many good food options, to me second to none for that category of cruise lines. Blu is a top in itself, every day (too bad that it's only opened for breakfast and diner). Even in the Aqua Sky Suite I had on Celebrity Beyond, having access to the Luminae and the Blu, I would say the same thing about Luminae : it's presented as something so high level, that when you eat there... you finally find out it's good, sometime very good, but the menu is very limited (compare to Blu for instance) and not as good as they seem to market it. So agree with you, Blu is the main reason of going Aqua Class (even better than the Retreat and it's Luminae). Next cruise on Celebrity Apex, on August 🙂

Totally agree. Just got off celebrity summits Bermuda cruise. We stayed in an Aqua class balcony room. Really wasn’t interested in the spa aspect of this class of room. For me, being able to eat in Blu was the draw. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!! The food was great. The smaller atmosphere was welcome. We did not have the same waiter each night as we had chosen open time dining so we were at different tables each night. However, it was not a problem. All of our severs were excellent! Loved the summit and one of the main reasons was Blu.

I'm not sure why people keep getting suckered into paying extra for food when they have already paid for it in their cruise fare. It's especially foolish when the cruise line already has a great reputation for food. And then people compound that by paying even more for a "celebrity chef" restaurant? I guess I should thank those of you that do that - by overpaying for your cruise, you are actually lowering my basic cruise fare. Well done!

My husband has BBQ - usually ribs - a couple times a week . He often gets them from a couple of food trucks near our house . He has tried the BBQ on several cruise lines and none have been very good. There are too many other great food options. He will leave the BBQ ( especially the ribs ) to land based eateries .

you'll love it. We've done AQ Class on 11 cruises now. It's our preferred booking. The filet mignon with the celeriac puree is just HEAVEN. Ummm. And Equinox is our favorite ship. We've done AQ class on it 4 times and a Royal Suite one time. We tried the Sushi on 5 when we did the Royal Suite and were not impressed. But Murano - as always - was MONEY.

@@ZachtheTravelingMan We tried Aqua Class for the first time on Equinox' inaugural season in 2009, and immediately fell in love with it; even my very picky husband who insisted that Celebrity give us a promise that if my husband didn't like Blu, they would seat us in the main dining room instead for the duration of the cruise. From the very first night to many years later as we have been sitting in Blu, we laugh at the absurdity of his apprehension that he would not like the food. We both love it! However, finally for the last night of a recent cruise, I noticed at breakfast there wasn't a dinner entree choice on the Blu menu that he would like. I checked the entree choices for the main restaurant, and found one he would like. When we were seated at Blu for dinner, I asked our waiter for the entree from the main restaurant, and it was served alongside my entree, on time, fresh and at the perfect temperature, and my husband loved it. So on the outside chance that someone does not see what they'd like on the menu, Celebrity waitstaff are eager to accommodate and make a guest happy, just wanted to add that info.

I was a Princess sailor and my partner a Royal C… we comp’d and did a Celeb to find “our” line… we fell in love with Edge class and X on the voyage and was an instant match -- we sailed in The Retreat.. can’t wait till you finally spoil yourself and use the suites. I have cruised with Celebrity exclusively as a member of the Captain's Club since 2o09. . Since traveling on the Edge on its second voyage, Celebrity has been disappointing. Do not like their New layout, especially the veranda cabins the size of a freight container. Food has been no better than the food served 13 years ago without the hefty price tag. Worse in some cases. I may be prejudice since I live in suburbs of major city and have traveled extensively. I was not impressed. Cruise to Iceland 2022 was just as disappointing. My opinion, Celebrity has gone downhill since the Pandemic.

We first travelled on Celebrity in 2016 and were very impressed. As a result we were excited to travel again this year. The service was excellent across the board. What disappointed us was the high charge for the specialty restaurants. The incremental difference between any cabin class is far less than their additional charge incurred. We are unlikely to cruise Celebrity again due to this.

I'd agree, of all of them tried so far, Celebrity has the best cuisine. My last time on Princess I was disgusted to find they added cheese sauce to the Eggs Benedict! Ugh! Those are pork ribs, not beef ribs. Beef ribs are much larger. The were probably just baked in the oven instead of being smoked, which is why they were not as tender as they could be.

We did the Chef's Table last summer on the Summit and it was ok. The big problem with Celebrity is the food is so good all over the ship that it is hard to top the 'included' food in any speciality restaurant. One restaurant that you didn't mention is Luminae. That, IMHO, is the best restaurant in the fleet and made the Chef's table experience feel ordinary.

Thanks Zach! Your food videos are great! We're back on Apex (not Beyond) in Sept. We're hoping for good weather so that we can try Rooftop Garden Grill - had to cancel in May due to open venue and cold windy weather. ...okay, we're going to try the caesar salad! Thanks for your honest review of the ribs - we don't have extensive bbq joints around us, so your review is very helpful. We booked Eden (twice) and will do lunch at Le Grand Bistro again. We also noticed a large drop-off in service from Blu to MDR, but Tuscany seemed understaffed and they tried hard (and apologized). Too bad Le Voyage didn't meet understandably high expectations - Have you tried a Celebrity Chef's Table? We really liked it and signed up again next March.

I took a celebrity cruise. I went to the future cruise office on board the ship. I put a deposit down on a future cruise of $200 for April 2024! I later decided to cancel that cruise. Celebrity will not refund my money nor will they let me move it to another Celebrity Cruise as an onboard credit! Nope, they are just going to keep my $200. Just be warned! They are money hungry it seems. HAL doesn’t treat guests like that. Your deposit is good for 4 years.

Hi Cody - great question! If you prepay for specialty dining that is the entire meal and all the food on the menu. So if you pay $50 for Tuscan Grille beforehand then you owe nothing once you dine there on the cruise. Have a great cruise!

The last time we were in Aqua Class, one evening we had terrible slow service in Blu. We had to request to be changed to a different table. After that experience, and due to the higher cost of an Aqua class cabin, we have not booked Aqua cabins again.
