This track reminds me of my father and how he "once strived to succeed in a world so vast" but he drank most his life away wondering why he "should run the race when he's fixed in last" ;-; he's been sober many years now and this track makes me want to hug my dad to show him he might not mean much to the world but he's the world to me. I don't understand how something with no lyrics painted such a painful lucid experience for me

The giant starts to age as time flies. He thinks about what he did in his past and how it made him be what he is now...an old and unable giant. He remembers the time that he had when he was growing up...how he felt anger, wrath, and sorrow...how became friendly with the hunter...and how it all collapsed to this one moment he is in.

Mortally wounded, the giant's choice comes to a head: to kill the giantslayer or not? He and the giantslayer stare one another down for the last time. As their eyes lock and the tension mounts, both seem to realize the folly of their eternal struggle. The Giant relents, choosing not to waste his final moments continuing that struggle. He does the unthinkable: turn his back on the giantslayer, his mortal enemy. Limping and bleeding, the Giant drags himself to the graveyard of his people and his family, falling to his knees in front of it. Stunned and respectful, the Giantslayer follows him, as they both stare in the shattered remains of a mighty people. It hits the Giantslayer how much the Giant has seen, how old his race was, and how it's all about to end and fade into myth once and for all. An aging giant...his time is running out. But Zack Hemsey's music never ages. Time only enhances the appreciation.
