You can tell that playing the role of Screech really did take a psychological toll on Diamond’s mind. He was always the whipping boy, the butt of all the jokes. Constantly being derided for his looks and his character. Whether the insults are just acting or not is irrelevant. Playing that character for so many years while having to stay IN character as he was constantly being put down probably made him feel that it wasn’t Screech who was being insulted, but that it was he himself who was being insulted.

@@ironwraith852 I’ve never experienced anything like that. I just thought about Diamond’s life and other child actors. It makes me feel terrible for them. All the sexual abuse. Being introduced to hard narcotics before they’ve even hit puberty in some cases. Then there’s all the shame and humiliation if your a certain body type. Being expected to remain this weight or that. Probably just because it’s in their contract. It really is like they say, Money is the root of all evil today. I can’t think of anything more evil than exploiting children for cash.
