Great convo! For me Rebel Moon - Part 1 was an epic visual feast that is far more layered than meets the eye. Despite the blockbuster scale, Zack Snyder is a true artist. This is him completely loose and goes all in with his sensibilities and storytelling. At this point, if you don't get nor enjoy his language of cinema, this film won't win you over. Regardless, you get to experience an untainted vision executed with full of beautiful imagery and soul. Something about it engaged me emotionally but it's hard to pin down exactly what that is. Maybe I loved how simple and tangible the journey was in an universe so big and unreachable. Definitely One Of My Top Favorites Of The Year.
