Great reaction. Akane is smiling because she's living her dream. Most of the songs are composed by Kanami, with the bass and drum parts done by MISA and Akane.

Kanami is the genius composer. She has extensive expertise on the piano. Listening to her guitar playing in this, it sounds so very much like a harpsichord. Her tapping is the best!

Kanami composes the songs. Miku is primary lyricist.
@GlennWH265 ай бұрын
To go into a little more detail, Kanami comes up with the concept, then noodles out a first version at her piano. She sends that to everyone, along with her notes on style, tempo, and tone, and then begins writing her and Miku's parts. Akane and MISA get together and work out the rythym sections, while Miku starts on the lyrics with input from Saiki ("Lyrics, Koba, not poetry! I have to be able to sing it!"). Then it all goes back to Kanami for the first arrangement, and the arguments/brainstorming starts. Everyone has fun rewriting everything, until Saiki says "Stop! It's good, let's record it/ it's crap, toss it." Of course, sometimes something else happens, like Kanami challenging everyone to come up with a melody and then weaving the results together, or Miku writing lyrics and asking Mincho to write a song for them, or Saiki doing the lyrics herself.

Kanami Tono writes these. Kanami composes instrumentals for three reasons: she's giving Saiki's vocal cords a mid Okyu-ji break, she can write in guitar parts that stretch Miku's guitar skills, and it gives every band member a chance to show their stuff.

Since 2017 with the song "alone" Kanami has written the music including bass and drum parts, MISA and Akane may modify there parts but follow Kanami's instructions on keeping the song the way she intended it. I can't think of a more prolific song writer since Lennon/McCartney, Taupin/John or the glimmer twins Jagger/Richards. Miku is the primary lyricist, with occasional lyrics from Saiki. If you want your face melted off check out "From Now On" cheers

Most of the songs are written by lead guitarist Kanami. Onset: There are live and white room versions. The white room version focuses on each instrument, and you can clearly hear Miku's rhythm guitar doing a great job with the backing. Memories of Wind and Wine: A cover of a game music. Giovanni: The original had vocals, and was based on the protagonist of the novel "Night on the Galactic Railroad." Without Holding Back: An instrumental song with an impressive funky bass. Don't Be Long: There's only a fancam version, but it's my favorite instrumental song. FromNowOn: A song with impressive, very tight drums. Probably BAND-MAID's most popular instrumental song. There are also many white room versions of Domination, DICE, etc., so if you like instrumentals, you should check them out.

Their other strictly instrumentals are From Now On (from Unleash!!!!!, has OMV on YT, bottom left on your screen at the end) Without Holding Back (from Unseen World, OMV on DVD release) and Don't Be Long (B-side to Different single, no OMV) . @Davey-Boyd5 ай бұрын
Saiki the lead singer has had throat surgery in the past so the band are very careful with her voice. They play 2+ hour sets so to give Saiki a break around mid-set they do three things. 1. Play an instrumental, 2. Miku (rhythm guitar) takes lead vocals for a song or two (she usually has one track per album where she is lead vocalist) and 3. Miku will do her legendary and hilarious "Magic Time" MC set. Then Saiki comes back on to finish the set. Even though Saiki no longer needs a break nowadays, it's become more of a tradition. So yeah, they have a number of really cool instrumental tracks. Check out the MV of "From Now On" for another instrumental banger! Kanami composed this. She's their main songwriter. They never did an MV for "Onset", only this live!

Typically, Band Maid's instrumentals are for Saiki to get a "pee break" and rest, Po! There are many more like it, especially the "White Room" instrumentals (extended play from their Bluray/DVDs) of some of their songs with lyrics. Take Saiki's voice out and it's a completely different song. Expect more of the same with their new release coming out soon. Btw, I noticed seeing Akane live and close up. She seems to "raps" or "scats" with her mouth her solos or fills most of the time, while disguising it as smiling. It must be part of her visualization of her music. What do I know, I play bass, lol! 🦍🍌
