Soyeon, who wrote and produced this, was performing on talent shows before the group was formed. Viewers agreed that she was highly talented but also said that she wasn't pretty enough to be a kpop idol. The criticism was not forgotten and eventually partially became a theme for "Allergy" and "Queencard". She is also now one of the most respected women in the kpop industry and her career in just getting started. She only just turned 26 y/o in August.

Queencard is a direct sequel to Allergy, which heavily underlines everything you say, but you definitely got the message! Queencard is actually not supposed to be that heavy on the message, so it's super cool you got it haha👍🏼 oh, and it's Soyeon, but it's just one letter difference, so getting there :D

You nailed the meaning and intention behind the song and video 👍. When the song mentions Kim Kardashian and Ariana, Soyeon (who wrote the sogn) was also referring to the screening process for KPOP idols. The company wanted her and the other members to either look like Kim K or be skinny like Ariana

Glad you got the message straight away! So many people get hung up on the "my boob and booty's hot" line when it's actually supposed to be corny because it's very much a Mean Girls idea of what being popular is Their sound changes a lot, but you'd probably still appreciate their other music videos since you pay attention to their messages Nude/Nxde might be a good next choice for that

A lot of their songs tackle issues like self love and gender inequality and other important topics. They have some that are just fun songs too but usually its something deeper which I can appreciate. Soyeon is a musical genius with such a vision for her group. They always slay! And the reference to White Chicks dance battle scene cracks me up!

Hi Zack, love your reactions. I’ve been with you through the whole XG journey and am thrilled to see you start down the road with NMIXX and aespa, who I also love. Now you’ve made my month by getting into (G)i-dle, the OG 4th gen girl group. I have been following them since they launched in 2018 and still have trouble seeing them as anything other than alternative upstarts that few people know about. In 2024 they are at the top of the charts and the top of their game, winning hearts and breaking records. Just in case no-one clarified, in Korea the name is pronounced ‘idle’ or ‘idol’ (there’s a play on words that i can’t remember) but when touring in the states even they call themselves ‘gee-idol’. They made a great little video for it, in spite of one member being on leave for rest. Love this song! Not sure if anyone shared but the pronunciation of Queencard is intentional, Queen Ka/Kwinka in Korean is a slang term used to call someone a "popular" or "cool" girl.

Alright maybe I was a little harsh. My bad. Anyway. Only KPop I ever listen to is Mamamoo. I think Idle kinda modeled themselves a little after them. Being bold and saying what they want to say.
