Bro, you missed out on the real nightlife, you should always try 3-4 places or better yet have someone conversant with the party scene to take you around. Oyster Bay is nice but a bit bougie. If you had stayed where you were in Sankara Westlands, you'd have been spoilt for choice for the number of night spots available. I'm also surprised it took you that long to find a sim card in Kenya. Literally every Safaricom shop has sim cards unless you had not carried your passport with you to register one. Next time have a to do list with names of places and activities you want to do and it would be much easier to navigate around with a trusted, knowledgeable local around. All the same, this was well packaged and shone a good light for our city of Nairobi. Welcome again.
@sirprestige880310 ай бұрын
Yup. Well said. Exactly what I was thinking all along. Even the clothes shopping. That looks like the Raddisson Hotel in Aboretum/Kileleshwa not too far from any type of party action. 🎉 Great video.I wish I could say the same of the way Black South Africans treat other Africans in their country.They encounter extreme hostility and are called 'makwerekwere'.Some of them pay the ultimate price and are brought back in body bags This from thankless people other Africans used to do all they could to liberate them from apartheid.We even boycotted the 1976 Olympics in Montreal,to protest the presence of New Zealand,who were notorious for hosting South African teams.But we Kenyans are civilised and forgiving.That's why we welcome you with open arms.We hope other stupid people learn from us and rid themselves of pettiness.

MY MOST SHOCKING IMPRESSION OF THIS VIDEO, Zack, is that you went to OYSTER BAY for New Year's Eve!!! HANDS DOWN the reason you were disappointed. I don't party but even I knew the minute you revealed that was where you were crossing over into the new year from, that that would be a let down. Bruv, next time, just stay in Westlands if you really wanna experience the Kenyan party scene. For New Year though, try our coasts. Eitherway, Kilimani is for the tampered, more tame nighters. Also real SUS it took you a whole day to get a sim card-bro, who was your guide??? Man did you wrong, period. But yeah, for any of the foreigners watching, this is a great lesson in just taking the extra time to get hooked up at the airport with a sim. For the government though, establish free internet hubs across the country to allow non locals access Wifi without needing sims or to be tethered to their hotels. All in all, glad you had a good time in our country. Definitely come back because you barely scratched the surface! 🤙🏾

Good review of Nairobi Zack. A good guide really comes in handy to suggest where to get services that cater to your expectations. Taxi drivers rarely make that cut. Kenya and South Africa have a lot in common, but sadly it is mostly a history of colonialism and apartheid. Kenya and SA were popular settler colonies. Settler farmers from South Africa came to Kenya for the same reasons. The State of Israel was supposed to be in Kenya, with a few Jews settling in Uasin Gishu, Kenya, a move that Boers opposed as they considered it their land. Palestine was chosen instead and the refugees left. Settler farmers left for South Africa in 1960’s when Kenya forced them to apply for citizenship or leave. Most Indians, British and Boers* left for UK and South Africa. Sadly, Kenya never condemned apartheid and it supported Israel in many things. South Africa has so many places named after Kiswahili words and Kenyan towns. One of Nairobi’s famous streets is Luthuli Avenue, named after South African activist Albert Luthuli; there is Jabavu Lane named after John Tengo Jabavu. Soweto is one of the low income neighborhoods of Nairobi. I guess we have more Soweto neighborhoods across Kenya. When SA softened visa requirements for Kenyans, there are hundreds of Kenyan tourists visiting South Africa weekly mostly via road. Language and food is another point of convergence. Kenyans learn a lot about South Africa from primary school. A Kenyan kid will tell you about South African villages where activists like Sisulu, Tambo, Mandela, Tutu were born and the schools they attended.

nope. kenya was very active in anti apartheid struggle..read about mandela and his trip to kenya. and kenya leader used to sneak money to be given to ANC because they thought mandela will be killed in jail by white government. its Congolese who were in bed with apartheid government

Very true...As Kenyans we've been taught in our schools so so much about SA ....They know very little or nothing about our struggles which surprisingly are somehow similar

But that part of State of Israel though is not true. It was Uganda that the British suggested to create the Jewish state. And, Palestine as it was then was not just "chosen instead". The Jews never wanted anywhere else. They didn't just want a state, but on that land, which they consider their historical ancestral homeland. Now, supporting Israel was not Kenya's mistake at the time. It was giving in to the British pressure to not condemn or cut ties with the Apartheid state in South Africa. A stain that Moi's regime left on us for many more decades.
@felixmakinda768910 ай бұрын
@@patriot_2022 the whole of Western Kenya was considered part of Uganda. Uganda boundary was at Naivasha which is less than 2 hours from Nairobi. The actual location of Uganda where the Jews settled was Uasin Gishu, which is currently in Kenya - an area considered to be Kenya's grain basket where maize and wheat comes from.
@patriot_202210 ай бұрын
@@felixmakinda7689 what I find online as part of the Uganda colonial map in 1903 has only a small part of Western Kenya, and does not even cover the area of today's Uasing Gishu County. It cuts into Kenya further North and takes the whole western shores of Lake Turkana. "The Uganda Plan" as proposed by a British official to temporarily settle Jews in Uganda before resolution of the Palestine issue then, was in 1903. The other scheme you are referring to of most of Rift Valley being in Uganda was in the 18s. Way before the British had even decided what they really wanted here, and before that idea of a Jewish state in East Africa even started

The nearest place to get a Simcard was right next to Sankara hotel,Sarit centre mall,that was such along tour to two rivers.Next time just shop at Sarit centre,one stop shop.You arrived during the festive season and most Nairobians were down at the coastal towns of Kenya or travelled to their native village towns

@@jelagatminingwo_ have you listened,he arrived and put up at Sankara first,went to another hotel I guess in upper hill,I didn't see the need to drive all the way to two rivers then back to Westgate to get a SIM card.The hustle to get a SIM card was too much yet the cab guy would have just started him off at Sarit which still is a stone throw to Westgate,going all the way to two rivers🤷🤷🤷🤷no you don't do that with a fellow human,I know one always wants to make Xtra cash but that distance for a SIM card🤷🤷🤷🤷

The reason Kenya's security is tight is because we are prone to terrorist attacks. So please bear with us, we as Kenyans also get searched especially when entering buildings, malls, even hospitals. At some point in the past, we used to be searched when boarding public vehicles.
