Tip from someone who works at Aldi: when they announce that they're gonna open another register, the designated cashier is still busy somewhere else. They have to put their pallet out of the way, walk to the front of the store, grab their cash drawer (every cashier has their own personal drawer) and put it into the register. The whole process can easily take over two minutes. Unless you're far back in the line, it's probably quicker if you just stay where you are.
