I’ve noticed that many of you are commenting on the fact the fact that we are promoting Halo’s vegan line of food and treats in this video. I want you to know that I hear you and understand your points. I thought I was clear in the video that this food is great for dogs with allergic reactions to meat based food and a way to offer your dog a little variety. I am not saying that this food is for all dogs, but I just want you to be aware of your options out there. As with any diet, do your independent research and discuss your dog’s nutrition plan with experts you trust. Great feedback as always guys! Thanks for being a part of the Dog Training Revolution! Zak

Brandon makes me think real hard about my life purpose. As a huge foreign fan of " dog" tv series i bought this book as a support kzbin.infoUgkxGQVgV21bQ7B9b9duQ1ByImyT9xHbjOKq . But the part that brandon wrote about how he become a trainer of homeless dogs makes me cry. It wakes me up and force me to think hard about what i'm doing in my life right now. He was willing to risk his job for what he believed : every homeless dog must have hope and a home. He committed to his promise that he would help saving lives. He never gave up and willing to sacrifice his secure career for it. That part alone changed my life, not even mention all dogs' stories he told throughout the book. They are all inspirational.

Our 2-year old pittie has meat-based allergies, so I was excited to see a brand that we can use to supplement her diet. Thanks!! Additionally, can you help with dogs who get overly excited and bite ankles really hard? Our pup does this when she's acting out, and she will actually break the skin on our ankles. We try to divert her attention with a toy, but she'll often go back for the ankles after a few seconds. We try to not exhibit frustration or anger when she does this, but it's really painful! We've also tried the high-pitch yelp, but it doesn't seem too effective. Any tips or a video would be great! We love your content!

My retriever does that too. Its not really hard though but people get scared if he tenderly bites their arms. We tried to train him not to do it but the snappy commentaries of all the "bitten" people dont really help us 😪
@TeslaNick26 жыл бұрын
Use a clicker (look up how to "charge" the clicker). Have puppy around you but DON'T MOVE. Click and treat for not going after your ankles. Keep your rate of clicks high at the beginning (once every few seconds - use tiny treats), once puppy is engaged in the game, shuffle your feet a tiny bit - click and treat for not going after your ankles. Repeat the "game" making it harder and harder by moving your feet more and more whilst puppy is successfully ignoring your ankles. Put puppy away in play pen/crate when people are walking about and puppy is likely to practice ankle biting. Keep puppy on a training lead to prevent puppy from getting to ankles when not in a crate/play pen. Keep it fun and positive, don't try shouting at or "correcting" a puppy with force. Prevention and positive training is key. This is very common in herding breeds like Border Collies and needs to be taught at a young age. A 12 month old ankle biter is a serious problem.

I'm sorry. This will be triggering a lot of people but...If someone wants to get a dog to give it a vegan nutricion without having a GOOD reason like allergies - he should not get a dog. If people just IGNORE the most important needs of the living being next to them and forcing their own lifestyle on them thats not just sad but really cruel to me. Vegan is fine and good... for men! But some people are really overreacting. I am aware that dogs are omnivores with carnivorial tendencies but thats the point! They cant digest all the vitamins that vegetables have because they have the enzymes missing. Wolves ate plants from the stomach of their prey but it was already half digested with the enzymes of the prey's stomach. It just is not right. If you want to live Vegan - do it but keep your pet out of it. Please! Do not feed that crap to your dog daily. It will kill it in the end... probably. Give your best friend the food that he deserves

I maybe 2 months late but... A dog trainer said so himself that Vegan Treats are ALSO good for your dog with allergies. He didn't say to force your Dog to be Vegan for life, yes meat is what dogs eats and has its own nutrients, but Vegan treats can help as much to give your dog proper nutrition. Think of it like humans. Mostly, 99% percent of the world eats meat, but we also need vegetables, but nobody ever said to always eat vegetables. Im just saying its ALSO good for you dogs to have some good nutrition in them. Its my opinion that you should feed dogs Vegan treats 1-2 times a day. Dogs are Carnivores and Omnivores at the same time, its actually up to the owner on how they proper feed their dog with the right amount of nutrients. Also, Thanks Zak, my puppy is well trained and i brag about it at school because of you! I support you, cause im also a pet lover! Keep up the amazing work!

I'm glad everyone is up in arms about the vegan thing. It's incredibly important that dogs are fed meat. They are opportunistic omnivores. If i put a hunk of meat vs a veggie platter in front of my dog, she'd go for the meat. If they're homeless and starving and all they can find is rooting through someone's vegetable patch, then yes, they'll eat veggies. Dogs are not meant to survive and thrive on a vegan diet. If your dog has a protein allergy, find another protein source that works. For heaven's sake they make kangaroo dog food now. You'll find a meat that works.

Zak, I get that you need the sponsorship money, but you should at least put a disclaimer before advertising vegan dog food. Most dogs do best with a diet with large amounts of meat. Similar proteins found in vegetables are harder/impossible to digest. If you want to make this type of major dietary change from the norm CONSULT YOUR VET. The company selling the food is obviously going to tell you it's amazing and maybe even make unfounded claims about it's health benefits. Can some dogs do alright on a vegan diet? Sure. Can some do better on a vegan diet? Probably. But that's al based on the individual's health and genetics.

Well, here's one source: healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2012/10/10/vegan-dog-food.aspx, and another: www.whyanimalsdothething.com/why-a-vegan-diet-will-kill-your-cat-and-sicken-your-dog/, a post by a vet: drferox.tumblr.com/post/164720596787/what-do-you-think-about-the-people-who-make-their, an article on the issue: www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/veagn-diet-for-carnivores/ I'd add more, but I honestly don't really see a point. My argument wasn't even that dogs can't survive on a vegan diet or that it isn't beneficial to some of it. I want people to know that they should talk to their fricking vet if an animal in their care is having issues, not just try and treat it themselves. And if it is a problem that can be solved with a change in food intake? The vet can help with that too and do it in a way that ensures the animal has a smooth transition and gets all the required nutrients. As long as someone's keeping tabs on their pet's weight and energy levels and working with their vet, I do not care if they want to feed a niche diet.

Here's an interesting article I've read about canine dilated cardiomyopathy in dogs and how it's linked to taurine deficiency: thesciencedog.wordpress.com/2018/08/30/the-heart-of-the-matter/ Some info on what about their physiology makes dogs carnivores: www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/is-your-loving-kind-fluffy-dog-friend-a-carnivore-or-an-omnivore/ Linking these here because canine nutrition is the topic of discussion.

Dogs are carnivores. They HAVE to eat meat. They can't really digest plants that well and won't get all their nutrients. A raw diet or at the very least a meat-based kibble is best for your dog. Dogs will slowly starve to death being fed a vegan diet. People can digest plant matter and can choose to not eat meat. Don't do this to your dog though, they rely on their owners to do what's best for them. And don't take my word for it, do your own research, and look up Dr. Karen Becker with Mercola health. She's a wholistic veterinarian.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Forcing Veganism on an animal is cruel, and incredibly narcissistic/selfish. Not too far from animal abuse.

Dogs are omnivores NOT carnivores, but yea they need some meat in their diet unlike people. I’m vegan but would never make my dogs do it.

You have watched Pet Fooled? It’s a documentary. You can look for “Husky squad” food videos where they share about it. I just watched it yesterday on Netflix and it made me understand why dogs love eating meat and how they are being killed slowly with that dry diet. Also you are right about the food but sadly the kibble sold for them is mainly grains (corn, and wheat) already because it’s cheaper than all meat kibble. So I’m planning to try this for my dogs soon if possible.

She is the best behaved dog I have ever had and I love that it is all in a positive way and not using harsh voices and punishment. Im sad that so many people are upset about the vegan food. I think a good way to think of things is take the info if it applies to you and leave it if it doesn't. Luckily a comment is a comment whether they are positive or not. Keep up the great videos!

Take it slow. Does he sit stay in a quiet room? Does he sit stay when you throw a toy in front of him? Does he sit stay while you walk away? Does he sit stay while you run away? Does he sit stay while you run away flailing your arms around and yelling in a circle around him? Does he sit stay when theres a dog in the far distance? Does he sit stay for a dog at a medium distance? How about people in the far or medium distance? There are many many many steps you should take before you can expect him to sit stay for a squirrel or dog that are close by/on the same path as you/only across the street. Good luck!!! Impulse control can be a tough one. Consistency is key. Your dog may be stubborn but you need to just make sure you're more stubborn. :)

Hi Zac, I know you talk about the dog at the beginning of the videos, but would you mind adding into your video description a) how old the dog is you are working with, and b) may be how long/often you've been working with them. Zak, I love your videos and your training has really helped me with my puppy, but I have to say, I'm disappointed that you would advertise a vegan diet for dogs. Dogs are Carnivores. It's not okay to feed them Vegan diets. I don't care if you choose to be vegan as an individual, but DOGS AREN'T VEGAN!
@kirankaur50566 жыл бұрын
Faeryn Nightshade you really need to watch the video more carefully and read his pinned comment. He isn't promoting dogs to be vegan. He is suggesting some dogs might want some variety in their diet and other dogs might have allegeries to certain meat products. Thats all. My puppy eats a mixture of beef treats, ham, chicken but also apple , carrots and vegan biscuits. She loves them all and is incredibly healthy because of the variety in her diet. You can google the research for this online, it's very easy to find.

Zak.... I agree with the last comment about Vegan diet for dogs. Dogs should never have anything with veggies. They have proven that giving your dog this new fad of having them eat "Healthy" can & may cause ENLARGED HEART...or go into CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE! As little as 3 months of this kind of diet can do unbelievable harm. Thanks for listening!!!! 😊

Some dogs have allergies. Baffling that most these dog owners commenting don’t know that that’s a thing yet are chastising Zak for promoting it. You clearly aren’t a good owner if you didn’t know there’s a possibility your dog can have severe allergies to some meats. You all are just so eager to jump on and attack someone on something you know nothing about. Y’all are fn dumb.
@mikaylawinter73736 жыл бұрын
New Poo they have allergic reactions that are uncomfortable, painful or even life threatening. Nowadays we can avoid that. If you didn’t know there was a possibility your dog could have allergies, AND you come on this video to attack the person who’s using his platform to give those dogs an alternative food source, you’re a bad owner. I’m in no way shape or form vegan or even vegetarian however I’m not dumb enough not to see the benefits of having an alternative food for dogs who’s immune systems can’t handle the meat product. Don’t be so eager to attack someone just because you have your own “beliefs”
@mikaylawinter73736 жыл бұрын
New Poo I answered your question in my first sentence. That is quite literally what happened/ happens to dogs before vegan products. They have uncomfortable, painful or even life threatening reactions (since you couldn’t read the first time) and now that we have these products, that can be avoided for your pup. Everyone who’s against vegan or vegetarianism is attacking Zak for simply promoting a product that IS beneficial for some. But clearly y’all who say it’s unnecessary and cruel are plain idiotic anyway so I guess there’s no need to defend it😂 can’t argue with stupid. hope you never have a dog who has allergies because you clearly don’t know how to handle it!

Dogs are not vegan! They are carnivores they need meat! So don't just feed your dog vegetables and whatever they need meat, that's why a raw diet is the best thing for your dog, just take a second to think what are dogs in the wild eating they're not eating kibble and they're probably eating very little vegetables and stuff they're eating what they kill which is meat organs and bones.
@TeslaNick26 жыл бұрын
Domestic dogs are not able to survive in the wild, raw feeding is not based on evidence and nothing more than a fad.
@whatteamwildcats40336 жыл бұрын
All_4_Paws you do know that the first thing they tell you she adopting is don't gives your dog food w/bones right?....the bones could get stuck and choke them
@all_4_paws7976 жыл бұрын
You give dogs raw bones not cooked bones, cook bones get stuck and or splinter and cooked bones can kill dogs, I've never heard of a dog dying from a raw bone... And I feed my dog raw bones all the time and the raw diet. I'm not trying to be rude or anything but just do some research on raw diet and look up raw bones vs cooked bones and you should look up the dog dad raw feeding 101 and do some research.
@TeslaNick26 жыл бұрын
+All_4_Paws I don't agree with feeding raw. Raw feeding has no evidence it is of any benefit to dogs and the associated risks are enough to justify avoiding feeding raw. You're 100% correct about cooked bones though. The whole notion of feeding raw is based on a false premise.

he literally specified that it works for dogs with allergies. newsflash SOME DOGS HAVE ALLERGIES AND LITERALLY CANNOT EAT CERTAIN MEAT. @wolfforce582056 жыл бұрын
"...or for people who want to give their dog a taste of the vegan lifestyle." is the part I take issue with. I've seen too many pictures online of animals who are clearly starving on vegan diets or going to the vet because they are nutritionally starved. Dogs aren't as bad off as cats of course, who need the taurine or they'll slowly suffer until they die of the deficiency, but it's still an issue that is becoming more prevalent. Deficiencies can cause frequent UTIs (which as a frequent UTI sufferer myself I can say is horrible to live with!), loss of vision, and even death. Given how great Zak's training videos are (I know I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone!) and his sizeable online presence it's a really big deal what he promotes because he has a big audience and some real weight as a great dog trainer to really influence people's decisions for their pets. If your dog has allergies by all means you should be doing whatever is best for them, with input from your vet. My last dog couldn't eat chicken so I more than understand that. But that's not what I'm complaining about. If you're so upset about people "looking for a reason to complain" maybe you should avoid complaining yourself, yeah?
