Great series but i don’t think the videos are in order in the playlist… I keep having to jump around to find the correct next video. I think if the title were shorter it’d be easier to order because most of the titles are so long that while on my phone i don’t see the whole title and therefore can’t see the video number. Also I think it would be helpful to add episode numbers on the thumbnail!

Well Congrats!!! Ik the waiting time is the worst time cause it goes by so slow😭😭 I finally got my puppy 5months ago I was asking for one for 6years! It’s worth it though just be consistent in training the first day is pretty obvious you should work in potty training and crate training the most! It will help you at night also tire them out at night before bed even if they try to go to sleep don’t let him or her also no water after tiring him out helped me ALOT since my puppy used to go potty in his crate and take him out 2-3 hours during the night:) you might have known most of the tips but just wanted to let u know!

I really appreciate that you show the small mishaps, the trial and error, your patience, and that you are sometimes also not 100% sure what is best. Showing that helps me a lot. It makes it clear that sometimes you just have to observe the situation and it is ok not to always know what to do right away.

I found the main issue people have is IMPLEMENTING the videos. When I watch people practicing their timing is off, their body language is off, or they repeat cues multiple times and aren't consistent. While every dog is different, teaching potty training is the same (unless they have medical issues). They don't necessarily implement everything perfectly and then blame Zak for their failures. That's why I think it's super important not just to consume free content and actually pay for services so you know what you're doing wrong. My two cents :)

One thing I wouldn’t recommend doing from this video is picking your puppy up when they are in a relaxed state to move them to their crate. With this action you have essentially punished the puppy for relaxing, and turned the crate into a punishment. Going into the crate should always be a voluntary choice on your puppy’s part, and should always be enforced with a reward. This creates a purely positive association with the crate. This next one is more of a personal preference, but I like to reward puppies and new dogs for relaxing anywhere in the house. If they voluntarily choose to settle down somewhere and chill, I calmly give them a treat to tell them that I love relaxed behavior in the house.
@kaylakinker78234 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I heard both before I got my goldendoodle and had no idea which way to go. When he came home, he did not fall asleep on his own in the crate. He would walk in and out and be in the crate without distress but wouldn't fall asleep. He would fall asleep next to me on the sofa or on the floor. By day 2 I gently moved him while napping to the crate with the door open. A few more naps where I moved him into the crate and he was able to fall asleep in the crate without falling asleep elsewhere and getting moved. But we used a TINY kinnel like a travel carrier for the first two weeks for introducing the big metal crate. He was only 7 weeks when he came to us.

I’m currently working through my first night with our new puppy as I type this. It’s 0300 in the morning and I think toilet break number 3 is about to happen shortly. And this video is definitely giving me motivation to persevere through these tricky first stages as a first time dog owner.

I noticed the harness Zac used on Kona is the exact same harness he used on Inertia as a puppy. Ahhhh the nostalgia.

Do you know the name of the harness?

@@billyleonard882 I think it’s the blue-9 harness

I think it’s similar to the Blue 9 balance Harness but I’m looking at the top colored part of the harness and it looks different. I hope someone can name the brand of this harness as I’ve been searching for it.

Actually you might be right. I freezes one of the shot and it looks pretty much the same. So disregard my first comment 🙃

I'm going to be completely honest and admit that potty training was difficult with my dog because we got him super young (maybe a month) and we pad trained him first before taking him out back. And to actually get him to use the bathroom outside took... a probably controversial method. We tried all the suggested ideas, moving the pads outback, using other dogs smell, etc. Finally we booted him out back and, in our completely fenced yard, left him until he went on his own, constantly refreshing his water. And it worked! Not saying it's a perfect method but *shrugs* worked for him.

See if you crate train your dog and keep them supervised as a puppy you can have 0 accidents in the house
@abbiezarslytherin37984 жыл бұрын
Ha! Thats funny you mention that. I said.... I did everything! that was recommended, including crate training. He refused to use the bathroom outside... period. AND to make matters worse he would eat it! He was a box baby so he was already doing that when we found him and it was very hard to break him of that. All said, nothing works for everyone.

Zach, we are in Simi Valley ca! Had to put our rottdobie down at 13 from hip displasia! In the last year we did meds, then steroids, then the shots but after one month the shots no longer worked! He lost his hind legs abilities and vet said it was time! 13! He was a rescue! Very loving! Vet said one in a million of the rott dobie mixes! We now have what we were led to believe a lab retriever mix, but vet says also chow!

I've had so many good experiences with the advice you give on your videos! Going from knowing basically nothing about dog training to being somewhat effective just from your KZbin content! Thank you so much for that! ~ I'm just going to throw this out there in case any of you have some tips for us... Our new puppy (Molly) is 10 weeks old. We found her at 5 weeks in our flower bed! (She knows Sit, Stay, and Leave it pretty well for a 10 week old pupper) We are having some issues with her Energy levels. When we try to play with her, fetch or tug, she will make a B-Line back to us and go straight for our hands, even if we're holding a toy! I'm guarding it but she does get close enough to make me nervous sometimes... She LOVES to nip at us too, to the point where we can't even give her random pets. She will come off the ground to get our fingers if we're idle, plus She's just started this week dragging and ripping up potty pads... Let alone if she gets in my dad's lap while he's relaxing, she will IMMEDATELY go for his hands and arms. He's been getting more and more frustrated with her, to the point where he's started pulling out the newspaper for if she get's too rowdy, which I'm not a huge fan of but my hands aren't 10% as chewed up as his... We also can't get her to stop when she's being bad? When she gets a hold of something or is doing a no-no, we say No and Bad, try to dis the behavior and get her refocused but we're struggling to get her to pay attention let alone stop getting all up in our business when we're cleaning up HER Business, if you know what I mean... We don't want to spank her or be rough, as she's boxer/mutt and we don't want her to be aggressive. But how do we get it across that we mean business without having to spank her?? We could really use some help... We want to do everything we can to help her become the sweet heart we know she can be! Thank you to anyone who gives us any advice! And seriously looking forward to the next few videos from this series!

My little girl (a Maltese) lived for 17 1/2 years and was very healthy. She was very tiny, and I fed her Purina Puppy Chow her whole life, I had two other dogs before her and they also lived long lives on Dog Chow.

So excited for this series and seeing Zak train lots of puppies. This is the most train intensive and nerve inducing part of having a dog. Lots of examples of the puppy stage will be so helpful!

Hey Zac! Just brought a new tea cup chihuahua home from Oklahoma last night. I have watched every video of yours and we had a calm 12 hour trip home, and I felt very confident in our first 24 hours so thank you!!! I significantly love your approach over all the other training videos out there. I can’t wait for the rest of my adventure!!! ❤️🐶

Kona is so cute and picks up on things so fast! She reminds me so much of our pup (we also have that monkey plush which is her FAVOURITE) I’m still so blown away by Inertia! Our girl is 4 months and with your videos she is well on her way to being a good girl like she is. 😍 Can’t wait for episode 2!

You must own a carpet cleaner ... For those first few days of training! Beautiful home so perfect for training. You are such a blessing, too many rely on 'anger and punishment' for dogs....such emotional confusion for them.

Our Labrador puppy is arriving this week. Such perfect time for this training. Already watching lots of your earlier training videos and the ‘dog training experience’ too. Ordered pupbox with your code and planning to get super chewer as well. Thanks for beautiful training, it is helpful to know so much in details before puppy arrives. Thanks a TON! ( note - It will be helpful to get links for harness, leash etc you are using in each of the videos)

Love this new series! Although, I think i will be getting most of my information from the Dog Training Experience. (Because, 8 weeks on the full experience.) I hope that this series goes through common puppy behaviors every 3 weeks. I’m realized “Your 3 Week Guide to...” could be a different title for this series. It seems clear that you shouldn’t let a new puppy on your bed and sleep with you, otherwise they will likely develop separation anxiety because they are with you all the time. I’m curious as too how this series will go. (I get the fact that this puppy is for a different family and is 12 weeks instead of 8.) But, I’m seeing a few differences between this “New Puppy Survival Guide” and the first episodes of “The Dog Training Experience”. Like being a not yet potty trained puppy. I’m surprised that there weren’t pads down prior to the arrival and I’m not sure if there is a crate barrier or not. Those are just things I thought any puppy would need to have not matter what type of puppy they are. I hope you can show us in the Dog Training Experience series the things that you said in this episode you still need to train Inertia. (Is the crate your using for Kona’s bedroom the same as the one you used for Inertia’s?) I love the idea of having a poodle after doing my research. One thing, it’d be nice for you to cover is how to cut your dog’s hair. OR (I don’t think you covered this with Inertia) How to prepare your dog for a grooming appointment.
