When I lived in the Bay Area in the 1980's, I was immensely lucky to see Ustaad Zakir Hussain accompany the stalwarts of Hindustani classical music like Ali Akbar Khan, Vilayat Khan, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and many others and also Ustaad Sultan Khan who is playing the Sarangi. It is such a soulful instrument with it's deep resonance and is said to be the closest to the human voice when it is played. Ustaad Zakir Hussain carried his immense talent as lightly then as he is doing here now, joking with the audience, indulging in tabla wizardry and the like. These musicians are the jewels of India.

Very nice series to educate people about our classical music. One feedback I have is that the video editing could have been much better, especially the parts where Ustad Zakirji is seen keeping taal for the carnatic percussive ensemble. His taal kriya is not in sync with the audio, which of course is not his issue but one of poor video sync. Since this video is particularly about rhythm / taal, it would have been nice to pay attention to this aspect.
