Hello!, thank you for the tutorial, my Delima is trying to find my ip address of a WLED controller (esp32 with ethernet). With and etherent connection I do cmd --> ipconfig --> but the ipv4 address is show just blank after the " : "., so Im stumped. I'm trying to achieve a local link from my computer when no DHCP or internet is available. Can I go this route setting static ip's on any WIFI router / managed switch? or managed switch then the switch automatically assigns ip's and I can type it into the browser and achieve functionality. will this help with my jellyfin server? Currently evertime the router restarts I have to manually retype the new public ip in cloudflare so people could access outside of local network.

a helpful Video, but it would only affect the local network configuration and not the IP address assigned by the ISP. This means that while the computer or any other device will have a static IP address within the local network, the IP address visible to the internet will still be assigned by the ISP and could change over time

Yes this is a static IP for the local network. I have multiple static IPs for my end devices.

this is the private ip what about your public ip. do you have to go through an ISP to set that up?

You only get 1 public IP unless you pay extra. But no you setup the private IPs like I showed you and thats it.

sir, I have my static ip. My static ip is assinged with my ONU. I recently reset my tp link router. So when I configure my router it shows different type of ip. I want to know that,, can I use the same ip which was used in ONU??? Will the static IP used in ONU and in my TP link router be the same?

Hi! i'm getting a Warning saying the default gateway is not on the same network segment (subnet) that is defined by the ip address and subnet mask do you want to save this configuration how do I go about fixing this before saving?

What is your Network Address? Most networks are 192.168.1.1 but you might have something different. Check the bottom of your router and it will have that info.

I recently purchased a dedicated IP from a VPN provider. The IP was then set up on a server. For some reason the VPN stopped working even though I had paid for it. I traced the IP address and found the ISP who owned it. My question is, is it possible for me to connect that IP address to my computer to connect to the server. Without that IP I’m basically screwed.

Your ISP is your dedicated IP address. The VPN is only a temporary IP Address depending on which server you are connected to. Different locations have different IP addresses. Which VPN did you purchase? I use PIA which works great!

@@OttomanBeats it’s because this video teaches folks how to set up static LAN IP addresses for devices; your ISP, meanwhile, charges you to set up a static WAN IP address for your router. These are different things. A static LAN IP address is in private IP space; a static public IP address is in public space.

Did you check your DHCP IP address range? Make sure the static IP address is in that range or you won't get an internet access. Keep me posted.

What is the purpose of reconfiguring the IP Address?

To prevent IP address conflicts. When DHCP hands out IP addreses you don't want your static IP to be in that DHCP pool that's handed out. So keep the static IP as far away as possible but still in the range.

@@Chevroletrulz IP conflicts result in no internet connectivity or intermittent internet connectivity. 2 devices cannot share the same IP at the same time.

I searched it up and people said it could be because of another device with DCHP, I have a repeater but I don't see how the repeater gives IP adresses and why its ip adresses are shown at the router settings
