Brief description of the city of Zakopane, called: the winter capital of Poland.
Zakopane is a town in southern Poland, at the foot of the Tatra Mountains and part of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship.
It is located near the Polish border with Slovakia, in a valley between the Tatra Mountains and Gubałówka Hill.
Zakopane is a center of Goral culture and is often referred to as the "winter capital of Poland" being located at an altitude of 1130 m, with a population of over 27000 inhabitants.
It is a popular destination for mountaineering, skiing and tourism, being visited by over 250,000 tourists a year.
In winter, tourists are attracted to Zakopane for the excellent conditions offered for winter sports: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and ski jumping.
During the summer, tourists enjoy hiking, mountaineering and caving, enjoy local customs, traditional food, carriage rides, etc.
