The first batch of this kit also came with a clear purple runner in addition to the clear orange and clear. However, ppl reported issues with the metal joints being loose. For kits in the second batch onwards (which should be the only version of this kit you can realistically obtain outside of China, or even within China, at this point), they improved (or at least they promised to improve) the metal joints and threw in a vial of rather strong super glue. It's not oil. Anyway, I used mine to tighten the waist joint. Applied a few layers and made sure to continuously move the waist joint as it dried and it more or less worked out. BTW, this only cost 158 RMB (~$23 USD) on release, which was a major selling point that the company advertised. That's an insanely cheap price, even among other Chinese kits in China. You can't realistically obtain it at that price even within China nowadays bc it sold so well. A friend of mine found it at a local hobby shop in Shanghai for around $50 USD just last month. This design is actually from a manhua called Tales of Armored Colossus. I tried reading it. It's kinda ass ngl, tropey characters and not much of a plot. The mech designs are the only worthwhile thing from it lol.

It retailed for 158 RMB (~$23 USD) in China, which was a major selling point bc that's actually absurdly cheap, even by Chinese standards. It's gone up quite a bit in price since then due to demand, to the point that a friend in Shanghai found it for like $50 USD at a local shop last month.

because bandai is ripping you off. they are still using old tech, old machines. and they dont care because they think they are the one to go too. extra accessoires ? bandai says nope more weapons, backpack ? bandai usually says nope need a base ? buy it extra says bandai. color seperation ? please no says bandai. new 1/100 kits every year ? bandai doenst give a f and nope . bandai shouldnt be more expensive because of ip issues. you are just paying more because you think its special iam really glad that there is a real market. i started 2021 with collecting and building mecha kits. and the first year was kinda painful. but 2022/2023 it all exploded. and in a good way.

@@matthiaszapf1171Being someone who started in 2011, Bandai isn't ripping you off all the time here. Keep in mind that they produce kits as cheap as possible so that Gunpla for the most part can stay affordable, that always has been their tactic ever since they did kits and they introduce new tech a lot so I don't know what you mean by "old tech". There is also that Japan's economy is really bad now so it isn't like they can willy nilly release 1/100 MG kits all the time either.
@OtonashiV3 ай бұрын
@@matthiaszapf1171 wait, there was a worldwide gunpla shortage in 2021. Bandai wasn't charging high prices, resellers were. Gunpla has always been relatively cheap compared to other non-Chinese model kit brands, and Bandai has continuously pioneered new model kit molding techniques. That kind of R&D costs money, but such labor is more expensive in Japan than China. Even then, these original Chinese kits are made by people who grew up building gunpla and probably still do - they're mainly good because they're designed by people with an actual passion for the hobby, unlike older Chinese bootleg kits. Bandai paved the way for this new generation of high-quality, original Chinese kits but the Chinese do have an economic advantage when it comes to costs for both labor and materials, which translates to lower prices.

really love the look of this kit, was my first original kit I built. had some problems with the head antenna not holding on had to put in some glue. The sniper mode for the gun is also supported only by a single plastic part for the bottom and a bit of the carbine nozzle in the center, and yes the scope, I had to put glue on it as well. overall, a nice kit to start branching out to original gunpla kits.

I love the design and pre ordered the Bailu, had some trouble building the chest but my main hand only half works so I think that was on me. I usually lie metal frames but after a week the base couldn't support it and the mech fell off, snapping the connection peg off the base and leaving it attached inside the model :(. I'll be trying an action base that cups the machine to see how that works. One other problem I had was the end cap for the left shoulder just... split in half O_o. I just look up from doing something and the two halves fell apart. Maybe I looked at it to hard. I mostly fixed it, but its not in great alignment anymore. I'm thinking of painting that shoulder black and adding a special marking to it to hide the flaws. Wish me luck!

@@matthiaszapf1171 i know its not an accurate description specially if you follow the proper term, its spawned with the battle of bandai vs bootleg, zakuaurelius has a video explaining it.....its like a vendiagram, 1st party (bandai) vs 2nd party (same design with or without permission like bootleg or resin kits) then here comes 3rd party (where some designs are heavily inspired and whether or not its considered a copycat)....some people can see it as an original design but some see it as a copy then edit then paste, thats why the term 3rd party was more or less formed for easier grouping....from what i see most of the time, its an original design if it has an IP or other form of media attached to it, if its just another design with no attachments, its considered 3rd party kit

@pablogonzalezhermosilla42103 ай бұрын
Not trying to be a Bandai fanboy, but the Sinanju Stein that's shown is the very first SS which is a kit from 2013, so not a fair comparison. Still, the newly released one shouldn't look that much better which is a fkin shame since it's the THIRD!! Sinanju Stein and the FIFTH!! Sinanju overall 🤦♂️ Too bad Bandai's income comes mainly from the HG line so they can afford to be lazy with the MG line no problem 😞
@snowy95873 ай бұрын
Hard disagree, and I even own both a Sinanju AND this kit The Bailu is great but I had to put in quite some effort to make it look good (Sanding down mould and sink lines, breaking in the 1st batch inner frame, correcting the god awful nubs on the plated parts, trimming flash, ect) Whilst the Sinanju was only hit with topcoat and accent liner and nothing else Say what you will about bandai but they do have quality
@razrafz3 ай бұрын
@@snowy9587 ur saying as if bandai havent done awful nub placements and visible mold lines too. and Zaku here puts both out of box comparison. sinanju just looks as if its hg beside an rg. yeah its old but its a company with several decades experience vs a literal newbie company
@snowy95873 ай бұрын
@razrafz if you've built any recent releases within the last year or so, like actually recent and not a reprint, you'd know bandai is getting really conscious about the OOB appearance of their kits Besides, the keyword here is "LOOKS" correct me if I'm wrong but usually plated plastic is undergated if the nubs aren't trying to be hidden in the first place, and whilst it does have some undergating, there's also a baffling amount of awfully placed nubs on that plated gold that aren't at all hidden or well designed

@churro53223 ай бұрын
The first thing I thought of this kit was seed lol.
@OtonashiV3 ай бұрын
It's not 3rd party by any definition of the term. It's a licensed kit from a (shitty) manhua. Many current-gen mecha designers in China watched seed and/or 00 growing up and built kits from those shows, so they are often inspired by seed/00 design elements.

Try motornuclear model. They re amazing, and literally have really unique design.
@OtonashiV3 ай бұрын
This is basically a budget version of a Motor Nuclear kit. Having built the Baiqi and Nezha, I'd say Motor Nuclear kits have a more robust base, more complex finishings on the plastic (the plastic quality itself is about the same, which is good for both), pre-painted parts, clear effect parts with gradients molded within the part (!!!), and more complex gimmicks. That being said, this retailed for less than half the price of your average Motor Nuclear kit, and is very good for that price. It's also much less spikey and hurts your hands less when handling it lol. Personally, I also prefer the way the plastic frame builds around the metal frame for the Bailu. With Motor Nuclear kits, you often plug metal parts into plastic directly, which can sometimes be too tight.
