ok to all, woman should not play the yadaki or to people who dont know the didgeridoo, it is a traditional Aboriginal tool used for story telling and pasing on of knowledge. yes in SOME cases woman would make and test the didgeridoo but this was only by permission of the elders and never in front of people, she has great talent I am not saying other wise but it is wrong for her to play out in the open if she really did love the didgeridoo she would respect the traditional owners. This is not sexiest statment men had mens business and women had women business this was the law of the tribes and should be followed.
@hazmongrel10 жыл бұрын
Lol what a crock of shit
@liambegnell341510 жыл бұрын
and what makes you think that
@hazmongrel10 жыл бұрын
Because she doesn't live in a tribe, what relevance do tribal laws and traditions have outside of the tribe?
@liambegnell341510 жыл бұрын
if you are going to play something with such cultural significances as the didgeridoo you should respect the customs and traditions of the culture it comes from regardless if you are from that culture or not
@Zoie3x810 жыл бұрын
liam begnell www.riskyregencies.com/2008/09/17/women-and-violins/ there is also the consideration of what already is. The globalization of cultures and societies is happening, whether we like it or not. Oh, sure, there may be a pocket or two of a populace who does their best to choose to live a tribal life, but even then, theres going to be spillover. At the very least, tribal peoples are going to start ; -using the leftovers of higher-technology societies, such as 4th and 5th hand re-reuse of building materials, clothing, and bits and bobs of other things for use as decorative elements or tools-of-sorts. - not being bothered by airplanes in the sky, or helicopters thundering along overhead. - seeing non-tribal people in trucks or boats or the like, doing their best to skirt around the rez-territory, or not, as the case may be. sweethesound.tumblr.com/post/7085381212/jaguar-dancer-photography-kenneth-garrett Not to mention the two facts of, (near as i can tell) A- the topic as to whether or not the taboo of women playing yidaki's, even in australia, was never unanimously firmly established, was not iterated to white people. (admittedly, im not in australia, so i dont know what the talk is over there.), and may or may not have been enforced/attempted to preserve the yidaki as an australian-aboriginal-only instrument, in spite of its exceedingly basic nature. and perhaps most importantly B - the idea is already out there, and im most certainly not the first, nor the last. Much as one may try to respect a cultures traditions, its a fact that the genie cannot be put back into its bottle, by force or otherwise. Im inclined to compare it to the social and cultural interactions between America and Japan; yes, there are many things that manage to stay in their country of origin, but there are also many things that cross the pond, and that segments of the other country's populous just can't seem to get enough of. For instance, baseball in japan, and anime/manga in america.
@mAybe748010 жыл бұрын
nice idea, but for me its bullshit
@brodoodman76710 жыл бұрын
you ever play one? mAybe not so much.
@MikeTheDidgeman10 жыл бұрын
Whats exact a nice idea and whats bullshit? If u dont like the didj, its your thing. But let me know what disturbs you. I as didj player want learn from other people's flavour & hearing.
@hasacz9510 жыл бұрын
***** I think, that mAybe7480 doesn't like modern music played on Didgeridoo and I understand him. Anyway, they are very talented.
@MikeTheDidgeman10 жыл бұрын
Adam Czech Ok, so he'd prefer more the "outback / meditative" and aboriginal playing? I fully understand that, because for me this vid is very cool too but its half beatbox and half didj and I like more the "oldschool" playing with more bush romance.and more spiritual passion. I dont understand why this is so high-rated, didjeridu is more than that.
@hasacz9510 жыл бұрын
***** Maybe many of young people think, that this "outback/meditative" playing is just meaningless growling. Such times.
