That was a good motivating talk. I compare your proud Britishness and British Muslim Community's social dynamics to our own situation here in sub saharan Africa, (a certain country I know you have been to!). With the exception of some key differences in how our immigrant communities have integrated (or not), how they perceive themselves and how they are perceived, it's almost as if you are talking an audience here locally. For us, we need our Ulema, who steer our community in a particular direction, to be more politically and socially informed so that they can provide relevant guidance to the next generation. Sadly, most seem out of touch. We keep making dua that the new generation realise their position in local society. is not merely to spectate, but to engage and get involved, beyond doing charity drives...

Also, I watched this talk the day after the UK Home Secretary spoke about the PREVENT programme.Her words paint a grim picture for British Muslims in the coming decade, and that's why I feel in the 1st part of talk, you may be incorrect, even though I understand the idea was to have an encouraging spin on the future of these youth you were addressing...
