Daren Bates (former NFL linebacker) has a podcast where he mentioned that you can't play "peek a boo" on defense when playing in your gap against the run because that allows the big plays. In past madden games, they've allowed that to work, so I'm glad they made it more realistic this year.

you know what, ZAN!!! THANK YOU! I didn't even know how to check "the run defense" on my plays! Alone the run gaps defense! I have REALLY been struggling to guard run plays Especially from The quadfather and now Derrick Henry. I can't express into enough words how much this video has helped me! I just won a super bowl because I shut derrick henry & his X-Factor! Just playing the gaps helps so much! Your one of the G.O.A.T.S. Man!!! Dude, I can't thank you enough right now for just simply showing this run defense and increasing my IQ!!! until today, I was one of those people that thought Quadfather plus his cheesy X-Factor did RUIN the game!! Crazy how IQ can change the thoughts of someone!

Another perfect explanation. I held the quadfather to 33 yards on 15 carries the other day, all while rushing for 160 with Lynch on my 50/50 Bills tt. All because I new my run fit responsibility and he kept hitting the wrong gap just for me to cut my runs back.

This tip is incredibly underrated. Instead of always feeling like I the user MUST shoot the gap, I'm now playing my run fit even if it means taking up a block, and now one of my teammates shoots the gap and blows up the run. You've done it again Zan!

Pros will run a stretch using the lookie play and cut back inside… cover 4 is usually best to stop the run due to the safeties helping however it’s not as good this year I still prefer nickel wide and spying both safeties 😅

I still think 44 split is the best run D .. just have to be careful and watch office sets... 4 wr sets or 3wr 1 te will toast you . But I haven't allowed more than 35-40 yards rushing a game with 44 split on very long time

How can you tell when you are viewing run fits which is for left and right

For instance on PS, L2 and ⬜️ are for run fit left and L2 and ⚪️ are for run fit right. I don’t know Xbox controls but same principle.
