You know, if Tifa sees Sephiroth like Cloud can, I'm less inclined to believe that Cloud is being affected by Mako poisoning with regards to his visions or "seeing things" as much as the Mako is meant to give select people visions that they are meant to receive.

I think its even more than that. I think "Mako" energy itself is likely straight up like world's "memories" given physical form. Kinda like the japanese folklore of leylines and the energy of memories in them. If Tifa can now see Sephiroth and possibly is not only hearing the voices of the lifestream. But witnessing both aspects... it kinda adds to the theory that Sephiroth is going through ff7's memories and trying to alter them to create an ending he likes. In the original story, he stalemates with Aerith. But he tells cloud he will live on as a memory when defeated. I think this remake is going to have them all access mako so they can see the "real" memories of the world and harness that just like aerith and Sephiroth did. It's clear mako poisoning isn't just magic, it's definitely hosting more within it.

That one infantryman was still willing to fight despite being heavily outmatched, meanwhile a 2nd Class SOLDIER was scared shitless of Cloud. How the heck did that SOLDIER pass the test ? Cloud was noted to have passed all the physical tests for SOLDIER, but failing the mental tests. That 2nd Class SOLDIER shouldn't have passed the mental tests if an infantryman showed more courage.

Do note that not every infantryman wants to be a SOLDIER. That grunt might very well be amongst the least fearful of the entire Shinra military, but he wouldn’t necessarily want to be a SOLDIER anyway. Also, that SOLDIER was completely defenceless at Cloud’s mercy while that grunt still had a slim chance of reaching for his weapon

She's been so lonely that she resorts to talking to the planet itself. Now that she has found her new love interest in Cloud, she will do everything to defend it, even if it means befriending her love rival Tifa just to appear accommodating in Cloud's presence. Aerith keeps telling Sephiroth to his face "you're wrong" for constantly bullying Cloud into a headache, and at the same time blaming Sephiroth for not finishing off Tifa five years ago at the Nibelheim reactor. However, she's very used to putting up a cheerful facade no matter how sad and angry she gets. (I'm just painting Aerith in a bad light for fun, I know she's not that sinister.)

In the whole Tifa vs. Aerith debate, ive seen a few people say "I ship Cloud with therapy" and now I get it and agreed. I already knew he was f'ed in the head, but this whole section really shook me. I didn't find the whole "kiss, kiss" scene romantic at all, Tifa doesn't know it was Sephiroth, he just tired to *murder* her. In real life, it wouldn't go down like that. I personally dont view Tifa & Cloud in that way, but no matter how I feel, there would need to be a lot of mending before reconciliation. It was just too quick. When this whole thing ended and it went back to "okay lets do silly side quests now" I just sat there like.. hello? He just tired to KILL her?! Were just gunna move on just like that?? And I know its only going to get worse from here... ugh.

Personally I think it could have been handled a bit better --- like maybe we should have gotten a conversation of all the characters talking about the situation with Cloud and agreeing to keep an eye on him or expressing concern about his condition or something --- but what's notable is that Tifa doesn't just trust Cloud blindly after this. She knows something is wrong with Cloud. What makes the difference here is that, yeah, she may not know it's specifically Sephiroth, but she KNOWS it isn't his fault, and so she's refusing to abandon him or let him face it alone. I think there's an argument to be made that it shouldn't be on Tifa to bear this burden for Cloud. But I also think Remake and Rebirth so far have done a better job navigating this than the original game. There, Cloud was largely emotionally unavailable and it was just kind of Tifa pining after him and carrying the emotional weight. Remake and Rebirth have more explicitly shown Cloud actively going out of his way to look out for Tifa, showing affection for her, and even trying to comfort her when she needs it. Given this and the way they interact with each other, their bond is a lot easier to appreciate in this than it ever was in the original --- at least my opinion.

Ok the contrary, I think it might just be a good thing. Tifa managed to go into the lifestream and see her past and place back to together her own broken memories. That means she will be able to know what to do to help put cloud’s memories back together again later through experience not just knowing.

@@Cincelia Tifa doesn't know more, she's very confused about her memories vs. Cloud's memories. She's quiet because she's not pushing Cloud to sort out their confused memories together. Not untl he is ready, and the more Cloud is pushed, by Aerith making him give into his Zack Persona Soldier memories, the more corrupted and unhinged Cloud becomes, the more dangerous Cloud becomes. So memories won't be sorted or talked about until Part 3. You should play the original 1997 game for more info.

Even in the Advent Children movie, Tifa's feelings for Cloud did not change. Tifa was essentially the one who helped Cloud escape the guilt of his past, and it was Tifa who made him take the first step toward sharing his past and healing. In this work, that role was further strengthened. She was more than just worried about Cloud, she realized sooner than Aeris that Cloud was being manipulated and suffering by Sephiroth, and she did everything in her power to help Cloud escape from Sephiroth and go his own way. She's letting her pioneer, and she doesn't care if it hurts her and makes her suffer and Cloud doesn't know.

Would've been better if they added a bit of gore honestly, cause there's almost no difference to his usual attacks and most of the grunts he previously attacked before Sephiroth is taking over him they manage to survive most of his attacks even when he hit them with the blade side. While it's true that the government and some media outlets heavily censor gore, if you dig deeper, you'll find that gore is actually quite prevalent in Japan. It's mostly found in hentai and other similar forms of media which are pretty huge over here, but when it comes to other mainstream media like video games, gore is rarely seen. Take the example of FF7 REBIRTH, which is rated for teens and up. It does contain mild violence and sexual suggestions, but it doesn't have much gore because it's meant for both a young and old audience.

I love how the developers play with the Knight/Dark Knight role in every FF series. In FF7, remake/rebirth or the original, even though there's no job change options, they make it to a point to show you how a character becomes their job. In this case, Cloud being the "Knight" class/job, showed the trasitions from Knight to Dark Knight, like in the other FF series job changes.

I think the main reason why Sephiroth kills Aerith at the end instead of Tifa, because Tifa has insanely strong physical strength and quick dexterity. He can't kill her, he's infact not that strong phsycally since he's a "ghost", even when Tifa is weak in Weapon she literally dodged his masamune. If only he tries to stab Tifa as he does to Aerith, she'll no doubt dodge it. Therefore he tried to get rid of her through Cloud, multiple times, failed, once he tried himself, failed, well, "The last light is the hardest to get rid off" - Sephiroth to Cloud in Kingdom Hearts

17:57 - 18:25 I believe that incident was the root of all Cloud's mental issues once he got older. In the original game, we already knew that Cloud was an outcast among his peers from the very beginning, but that could be excused as "childhood drama", with Cloud being too shy to ask them to join with them. But being blamed for something he had from little to no control over it (I mean, he was FREAKING 9), and wasn't even his idea (it was Tifa's), and even tried to keep her safe while her so called friends chickened out and left her alone, it's a huge blow for a child's self-esteem and their mental health. Then one could argue and say: “Why didn’t Cloud say the truth? It could have lifted some unnecessary guilt off from his shoulders.” While it’s true, people forget it’s because at that point, Cloud was well too aware of his status as an outcast, therefore, even if he told them his side of the story, he knew that everything he would have said to defend himself would have fallen on deaf ears, especially from the adults. And even if he told her now as a grownup, it wouldn’t change the fact that it happened long time ago, and wouldn’t have mattered anyway (I mean, it’s not like by revealing it, suddenly he could go back in time and prevent it from happening again).

Final Fantasy 7's setting is heavily influenced by an old silent film called Metropolis, especially Midgar, a film accused for having communist sympathies. The protagonists in FF7 are literally "eco-terrorists" fighting a capitalist organization (Shinra) indifferent to climate change. Various areas in the setting experience desertification as a direct result of Shinra. Sephiroth effectively is a guy claiming racial superiority and claiming ownership of things that are objectively not his through genocide in a self-destructive and unsustainable/parasitic ideology: Fascism, in other words. FF7's plot is objectively far to the left of the vast majority of its actual players, and very obviously you, lol.

When Cloud was under the controll Sephiroth's,because him wanted of Cloud the black materia,is been enough that Cloud turned up Aerith because his influence ended. There not there was Tifa but Aerith, is Aerith of strength Cloud's not Tifa, i know that at you shippers cloti don't like to hear this but is the truth! Cloud will love and will be always in love of Aerith accept it!

Sephiroth is menacing as villains go... But Cloud, Cloud is fucking terrifying when his mind goes. The party has suspicions to him acting weird but they better figure it out fast. Part 3 is gonna be so fucked. He's gonna snap far harder than OG and it's gonna hurt. The only one who can save him now is Aerith.
