I won't spoil anything, but if I could describe this season, this was like a mix of Mortal Kombat + Squid Game before Squid Game became a thing, just without the gore and brutality of course. This might be one of the best seasons of the show as it really opens the doors to so much worldbuilding in the show, expanding on the different Elemental Masters out there, exploring Ninjago's lore and history around the Serpentine War and developing characters like Sensei Garmaddon, Kai, Zane etc... Chen is also one of the funniest and most entertaining villains of the show., the dude is such a foul menace and slimy schemer.

And if that was the case, im sure the good departed have taken it upon themselves to keep the villains at bay. I dont think the FSM would let those villains back into the other realms

Wu and Garmadon are sons to the First Spinjitsu Master. They have lived for thousands of years. The elemental masters are normal humans that were given elemental powers by the FSM and there have been many throughout the generations, as their powers are passed down to their descendants. Just that fact tells everything, especially regarding Kai, Jay, Cole and Zane and their respective elements. I hope you are prepared, because a lot of lore will be explore in this season, along with many hints regarding future events.

As an add on to what you said; It is speculated, yet not confirmed as far as im aware, that Wu and Garmadon were kept young my the elemental weapons. After garmadon tried to seize them and wu hid them, their age started to catch up to their bodies.
