You mention in every episode that you don’t drink coffee now. I really want to know the real reason why you made the change! Did you know that many takeaway tea drinks actually contain as much caffeine as coffee? Thank you for introducing the Philippines in such detail, including your itinerary. I believe you have fallen in love with the Philippines! I look forward to having you come back to my country one day! Thank you very much for sharing, great job! Have a beautiful life! Happy travels! 👍🥰🙏

Good to see in your vid passing by our old fav resto the Chinese Chin loong opposite to Silvanas. Had been coming back there for 35 years or so, glad this resto still in existence. Then we go for Silvanas for dessert. The heat in Dumaguete is overwhelming. We have a place just 20 minutes from the city, we don't live there yet but some degrees cooler, don't need an aircon. Most do refer only Valencia area as cooler place but actually there are many areas that can be cooler as going further up higher altitude. Negros Oriental is mountainous. Going outside Dumaguete is cooler.

I just noticed and also appreciate how you control your volume when you speak. Idk if thats just how you talk or not but i noticed most foreign vloggers talk obnoxiously loud and sometimes distracts people around them. You have this very chill and mellow vibe which is awesome

I lived in Dumaguete several months last year, not sure where you saw a nice monthly rental for 10,000-15,000 php but of all the cities in the Phils I've visited over the past 9 years, Dumaguete is one of the hardest to get short term rent. Of course, nice I guess is subjective. Thanks for the video.

You mentioned the understaffing issues, I understand what you mean. Too often, only one person is working in a busy coffee shop in Duma,-even in the well know coffee chains and supermarkets. Too often I have walked out and not bothered to wait. More universities are needed for developing business and maximizing profits.

Having lived in Dumaguete for 6 years I have found the restaurants a hit or miss affair .You can have a good meal then next time get an oxidised glass of wine and a near cold bowl of soup which on previous times has been good. The main problem is foreign owners come with money decide to open a restaurant never had experience hire Filipina cooks who never have tasted or cooked foreign foods and it is a disaster. I have found pizza restaurants that forgot to put sauce on a pizza plus the prawns .I have ordered chocolate ice cream with no sprinkles as I am diabetic and last visit that's what happened. What I got was vanilla ice cream with sprinkles and chocolate sauce all over. I complained direct to the kitchen they showed me the waitress had ordered sprinkles but on asking why no chocolate ice cream told we are out of it but why not ask customer and why the chocolate sauce. Sorry sir Sorry sir I just said to them you never see me again.I encounter such things here all the time.No one could care less you need to get used to it as no one cares.

Try to learn to drive a bike or scooter and explore more. Dumaguete is notorious for making foreigners stay, once you immersed yourself with the culture and lifestyle there even for a week. Try making friends with locals especially students at nearby universities. Would love to see more food vlogs.

Not mentioned: most foreigners live in neighboring towns and come to Duma for shopping and nightlife. You won't see many downtown unless you go looking in some places where they congregate like Why Not. There is a cultural scene in Duma (museum, performances, concerts etc.) also a music scene with many bands in the evening. Nearest good beach is Dauin (16km) with brown sand. Orher beaches have grey sand, less nice. Mountains and jungle scenery are a 30 minute ride away. Good hiking. Popular diving spots for scuba diving nearby. Many educated locals in Duma you can have conversations with instead of small kids and other expats. Duma is a university town with beautiful campuses.

Maybe if you take a future trip you should consider Rizal Province, where I live with my family, on the outskirts of Antipolo City. It is only a couple of hours from Manila and is at a relatively high altitude so there's neither the humidity nor the pollution that you experience elsewhere in the province. As a relatively industrial city it is not over-touristed, but here are a number of hill resorts in the area even higher up that have a cool temperature and a relaxing environment. These are quite popular with Manila-ites wishing for a break from the capital. My wife and I frequently take extended breaks to escape city-life.

It's very funny how Dumaguete is perceived as a city for the seniors when a vast majority of the population are young. Only less than 10% are seniors. Maybe you mean you are very young for the expat group... The expats have young kids there too...There are lots and lots of young locals there. They are just in school and at work. It is a university town after all. A lot of youths come out at night to do bar hopping . On the weekends they also go island hopping or simply swimming in the beach. But if you love hard partying then Cebu , Manila & Siargao is the best place to be.

FYI November 1st is ALL SAINTS DAY in Manila. It’s a public holiday in the Philippines. It is also observed in parts of Asia, such as the Philippines, where people visit graves of deceased relatives and clean or repair them. They also lay flowers on the graves and light candles. It’s like the Memorial Day in the US.

Alex - a Russian from Moscow spent 6 months & averaged his expenses owning his his scooter - for about $700 / mo. ! Another US expat says he spends $1200 -- $1300 mo. - but could easily live on $900 if he wanted to or had to ? His rent is 7500 P & he spends about another $100/mo. for 24/7 AC ! - - - That $1000 budget might remain very possible for many frugal or thrifty minded expats ?!? Not traveling a lot but staying put. ---- $1500 would be more than many would apparently require for comfort ?
