also seems less honking, cleaner and less chaos in the markets

Nepal is therapeutic, You can say it’s a more tamed version of India but obviously the street hustlers are the same everywhere that’s just how they make their living.

Remember you are under no obligation to stop and talk to anyone. Even if someone says "hello, where are you from?", just ignore them and keep walking. Stay safe.

8:23 one major urban design change for Katmandu will be understanding their population density and concentration of population in their major city and designing the city that way… Nepal’s Urban planners can definitely take lessons from Europeans… Some changes would be banning two wheelers as the streets are narrow and cycling is the most accessible and sensible option… Banning honking in those narrow streets can help reduce noise pollution…. I feel like for longer distances they can simply enhance public trasit like a BRT system and for mixed zone travel they can cycle or walk… Banning two wheelers is one of the best solutions as it is not required in a good mixed zone densely populated city like Katmandu… Doing so will overall enhance traveling experience by reducing emissions, noise pollution and streets will be more safe… I love the crowd that’s so lively and unique but what makes things chaotic in South Asian cities are two wheelers As they take significant amount of space in small streets and also are not needed if the urban planners in those cities improve public transit… Katmandu is really beautiful, green and have the potential to be Amsterdam of South Asia only if they implement the right structural design for their cities…

I completely agree with your analysis. It so frustrating as British Nepali how mismanaged the city is. And there is so many quick fixes that can enhanced the pedestrian experience like banning vehicles from narrow streets and main squares.

I went to kathmandu in 2017 to do Everest basecamp, only stayed there for 1 day before we flew out to Lukla, will definitely go back at some point and explore it properly. It has such a good vibe about it, they've also built a lot of it back up from what I remember, there was a tonne of rubble from the earth quake when I went.

Paneer is made by curdling milk with an acid like lemon juice or vinegar. The curdled milk is then drained, and the resulting curds are pressed to remove excess moisture. This simple process yields fresh, homemade paneer. 🤍🧀

Rickshaws are not allowed to cross those highways. Those Rickshaws are only meant to be ridden inner city. Cars, Public buses and bikes could have collided while trying to cross the road. That was freaking dangerous.
