About Zaraki part, the hollow power of Ichigo represents his desire to fight but the power who protected him is the quincy power, with the last dialogue it ia made clear that the hollow powers is associated with the desire to fight, the quincy power de desire of self preservation and both turned the power to protect.

Since Kyoraku had to go to Central 46 to declare that he would have two vice-captains, this implies that Kensei and/or Yamamoto once went to Central 46 and informed them that Mashiro was now a Super Lieutenant.

Basically everything wrong in the Gotei comes back to them beeing absolute assholes about everything because "Muh Traditions" and Arrogance, never chaning anything because "It just works". The fact that central 46 even tolerates her being there let alone respecting any sort of authority she has is preeeetty progressive so to speak 😅 They brought all of them including kisuke back into the fold because their determination to save the seritie, even after the seirete (I forget how to spell it lol) betrayed them by deeming them criminals or monsters that need to be exiled or terminated accordingly. But after they were the factor that tipped the scales in the war with aizen along with them getting ichigo his true powers and all that so he could play the major role that he does. And remember the central 46 was already completely wiped out before by aizen right, remember that whole plot line?

I liked the scene with Omaeda and his family. It adds a degree of light comedy and humanity after the horrors we saw. And him not training while Soifon does so intensely shows the personality gullf between them. In the end him dealing in diamonds in the postwar era seems more suitable for him even if it's part time.

Part of the reason the "Zangetsu is Ywatch" reveal is so big and hits so hard is the last time we saw old man Zangetsu was all the way back in the Soul Society arc during Bankai training. So while we had just seen Ywatch for many chapters, old man Zangetsu was on no one's mind until it was revealed. A reveal like this would be so much harder now days in a series as big as this, because there are always people rereading every thing and someone would say "Hey, doesn't that guy look like Zangetsu?"

Basically as soon as we saw Yhwach back in the day people noticed the resemblance, but the theories were everywhere from "Kubo's running out of designs" to "Yhwach is Zangetsu travelling into the past to stop Ichigo from becoming the Soul King." It still hit insanely hard due to chapter pacing and little details like Zangetsu using the Quincy Shadow during Kenpachi's fight.

I think the rain in both versions work perfectly. The first one is representing his conflict with his outer world (his family and friends), while the inner one is his conflicting self. The outer rain dispersers and the sun starts to shine. While his inner world gets more distraught and dark then lights back up as he accepts the truth from within. Kubo you absolute mad lad.

I really like that acceptance that his true zanpaku-to was really the best part of himself all along and he accepts the power of White and old man Zangetsu/Yhwach willingly, its poetic, he was always so determined to do things on his own while not realising he wasn't at peace with the true source of his power and the truth of his identity. Its why its almost like White and old man Zangetsu can finally pass on and let Ichigo be able to stand on his own two feet for the first time in his life. Its like that classic almost kinda coming of age/acceptance of one's self trope in a lot of popular anime, being thankful for all the lessons the main character has learned til this point, learning their true potential and how to embrace it fully, without worries or regrets but with confidence and faith in themselves. This is why Bankai takes so long to truly master, its so much more than just an additional stage of power for a Soul Reaper, its truly about knowing, understanding and being at peace with yourself, not holding any more secrets or untruths from yourself, to truly accept your heritage, your power's true source and to be able to say your own soul is at peace. Its why I think it reinforces why Byakuya Kuchiki is so fantastic a character because as we saw so early on at the end of the Soul Society arc, his Bankai was truly complete with techniques like Senkei Senbonzakura Kageyoshi and Hakuteiken, he's only able to wield those because he knows himself and the true source of his power, we see it again in the Zanpaku-to Rebellion arc where he works flawlessly and perfectly with Senbonzakura because he's been through this process, he truly knows not only himself but Senbonzakura's spirit and feelings inside and out. That, is what Bankai truly is, at its very core.

The way I think of Ichigo’s relationship with his power is that the Old Man channeled Zangetsu’s power through himself, allowing him to limit the amount he lets through and still giving Ichigo access to Zangetsu, albeit an incomplete form because of the limitation. But from Ichigo’s perspective, it all came from the Old Man like he said: “I became the center of your power.” So Ichigo may have used Quincy power to stop bleeding, but the reiatsu Ichigo emitted against Kenpachi was still Zangetsu’s.

What I find really interesting about Ichigo is that he doesn't really get stronger per se. Ichigo's situation is like Zaraki's situation. They both have in truth tremendous powers but it is unknowningyl,subconsciously suppressed because it would kill them.

It was so beautiful to see that Ichigo now knows the full picture,he knows his origins and with that knowledge he can go forward,he for the first time in his life knows who he truly is. 36:58 could be that the Quincy power stopped the blood (the defence Quincey ability uses blood from what I recall) - since no other zampakto does this it leads me to believe that it's the Quincy stuff and then for power some of ichigo's locked hollow powers where released.

The part where Ichigo finally obtaining his true Shikai was beautifully animated. Now let’s hope in part 2, they don’t do him dirty like in the manga. Like let us see him properly utilize his new found power against 8 sternritters at once and not a mere four, because those female sternritters where nothing. I mean Bazz b could give him a slight challenge in base. I also hope part 2 is 2nd and 3rd cours combined. I mean the second invasion is mainly fight scenes but if there are going to be some extended and additional stuff, it needs to be 26 episodes long

My only complaint was something similar to what you said. The reveal of Ichigo's dual zanpakuto should have been a bit longer and with the credits at least paused. I felt the end credits being played over that end diminished the impact of the visuals. But that's literally my only complaint. It's been a hell of a season, and they created a great season closer.

I feel like him saying “I won’t ask you for help anymore” is symbolic of ichigo excepting every part of him self as he always rejected his hollow constantly suppressing it up until he realized his hollow and Quincy is him and by asking him for their help he’s asking to use his own power and is limiting himself in this sense. About the fight with kenpachi, I think the explanation is similar to how his power works after getting the dual zangetsu. The more he exhaust his Quincy power, the more his shinigami power comes out. So at that time, because zangetsu gave him his Quincy power to fight zaraki, more of his shinigami power get released as results. That is if I'm not misunderstanding his explanation about how his power works in the battle against yhwach

About Oetsu's methods-I figure that before soul reapers were an established faction, there were some natural Arrancar, and that the zanpakuto-and Shinigami in general-were based off of that system. Since Hollows get stronger by consuming other souls, eventually (sometimes) becoming Arrancar, Oetsu did something similar to make asauchi

The bit about using Shinigami souls is a bit jarring, though in line with how messed up the Royal Palace seems to be overall. It'd make more sense if they used Menos (especially Gillians) as raw materials for Asauchi (and maybe even provide the raw spiritual power used in Hikifune's meals), since that'd tie into the time they said the Royal Guard are the ones supposedly tasked with eliminating Menos

I look at it like the larger blade represents his main source of hollow/shinigami powers while the smaller blade represents the rest as quincy/shinigami powers. They are both zanpakutos so they both have to be his shinigami powers. That's why Oetsu states that they were both real. In CFYOW, Urahara states that Ichigo's reiatsu mostly reads as a shinigami with hollow and quincy elements hidden behind it.

I think the reasoning behind using shinigami souls to forge Zanpakuto comes from the saying that "a Samurai's soul resides in his sword". A concept already in play as a main theme in Bleach is that a shinigami's sword is an extension/reflection of their soul.

So the English sub I watched of episode 12 had Isshin tell Ichigo about the Quincy Selection. Isshin directly mentioned both Masaki and Katagiri were killed that day as a result. I even pulled up the episode again to check given several mentions that Katagiri's death was left out. Its mentioned when we get the photo of young Uryu and Katagiri.

The Quincies cannot take the Vizards bankai because just like how Uruhara return the stolen bankai they are hollowfied Shinigami. The Vizards had a better chance than the rest of the captains and yet they didn't accomplish much.

I want to use this moment to dispel a misconception that i've seen some people hold about hitsugaya's bankai, specifically what happens once his ice flowers dissipate. I have seen people claim that when he was fighting shawlong he never explicitly agreed with shawlong that his bankai would disappear when the flowers run out so people believed he would've turned adult even back then. But as toshiro says in the scene this episode he trained his bankai to the point it could be called a true bankai. Before the timeskip if his flowers run out his bankai goes away. After the timeskip when his flowers run out he grows up. That was the power up he got from training his bankai over the timeskip. It is not a bad place to end it off though i feel like its a smart idea to have a massive climactic battle within the last 2 episodes of a season so if it were me I would've arranged it so that kenpachi vs unohana was episode 11. I also feel like the last episode should be one of the best if not the best looking episode visually and it wasn't the case here for certain. It's not such a problem but they at least did not hit it out of the park with episode 12 and 13. They did a passable job. As a general thing i've decided im not fond of the visual effect style they've gone with for the quincy abilities. I decided it when looking at the brief shot of bambietta's vollstandig from the trailer of cour 2. Its just clumsy looking to me. Anyway from what little we've seen it does look like the animation will improve next season though its far too early to tell if it will be consistent like that. The CG was also hit and miss in this season. It ranged from things like the hollows in ep 1 and the quincy soldat in episode 7 where i could scarcely tell it was 3d to yamamoto's skeletons and the asauchi which looked a tad shit. I know people want shinji and hisagi to do stuff but i have a different opinion. I'd rather just they animate CFYOW and not give any new scenes to either of them. Shinji still deserves at least 1 but hisagi got to be the protagonist for an entire novel he doesn't deserve squat this arc. Who really needs the extra scenes are all the other vizards and numerous others. Hisagi and shinji should be lower priority. Anyway overall decent job to start with. Hopefully it only goes up from here but what we have so far is acceptable. I wouldn't say its completely surpassed all expectations and done no wrong. It's just great that bleach is back and they did well enough.

Number 1 started playing when "Zangetsu" started speaking to Ichigo, after he had seemingly disapeared. It was perfect because we realize he is not actually gone, we just realize he was part of this whole, bigger thing all along. Just like Ichigo's previous "inner hollow". The phrasing that he used "the power of a quincy" or something, to help Ichigo also make sense I think. Quincies are oposite of Shinigami and even Hollow in that they don't fight using their inherent reiatsu, but instead harnes external reishi to power up their techniques. Zangetsu was using his quincy-powers to harness Ichigo's inner power, in order to give Ichigo himself more power in the present. In terms of the Ichigo vs. Zaraki-fight, Zangetsu saying he will "lend him his powers" and the "inner fight" being against Hollow-ichigo, I think signifies that "Zangetsu" was actually releasing the power he was holding back, thus letting out more of White inside Ichigo. I think Ichigo's power make sense to me at last. When he keeps that small dagger-thing, and later has that sword with a white layer outside a black core, I get that whole sealing away power-bit. That's essentially what all Shinigami do when they use their unreleased zanpaktou, or even use shikai instead of bankai, right? But Ichigo's late-TYBW-form really does hammer home that point of "why would you not just use the most effective ability and win quickly?" But then again, Ichigo's shikai did seem quite pointless all the way since the start of the Arrancar-arc, really... Now I imagine Ichigo's bankai in the Hell chapter-era to be like, the white layer of his shikai withdraws, leaving only the black core which is revealed to be a blade like Ichigo's previous bankai-forms. Then the white outer layer sort of swirls itself around Ichigo's head (like the bandage on his original shikai, lol) and becomes like a hollow mask-looking thing. And the idea of his bankai is essentially to abandon all finesse and "code of war" to release his full power and fight more recklessly and aggressive like White/Hollow Ichigo.

The whole thing about both being really really makes me think that his imprinting of both spirits onto the Asauchi makes Old Man Zangetsu a Quincy-Zanpakto spirit hybrid like White is a hollow-zanpakto hybrid.

I think the lights in the background of the forge are the asauchi 5 that ouetsu controls to control the surge make the zanpakuto, if you notice when they’re introduced, they’re all in a different color panel, which happen to match the background when they hit ouetsu, the same as when Ichigo and his asauchi are in the picture. With the new fight that Kubo is introducing in the second Cour I hope to god it's Hisagi using his Bankai. I understand that he debut it in CFYOW but as we probably won't see that animated, bringing it into the TYBW would be amazing, as Hisagi rose in popularity and Kazeshini remains one of the most popular Zanpakuto out there. I hope with Cour 2, Kubo puts a little bit more of a gap between the first invasion and the second, as everyone begins training literally the same day the second invasion begins (June 17th).

Honestly, I'm fine with the current anime adaptation. My only gripe has been with the omission of minor plot threads here and there, such as the Royd Lloyd backstory. Either way, it's kinda hard for me to really stay hyped since the arc really starts to fall apart towards the latter half and the supposed idea that the anime is somehow going to "fix" said issues is incredibly unlikely

I pretty much agree with everything 100% except your dislike of having the raindrops when he discovers his Quincy powers. It always starts to rain when Ichigo is uncertain or is starting to be devastated or saddened, and upon that shock it makes perfect sense to start raining right then because that is how it's always been in his inner world and leads to the utter despair of the flood.

Oetsu doesn't communicate with Ichigo in his inner world. He's just talking to him, and as Ichigo is in his inner world, he simply can hear him. It's like being in a state of imagining something, and you can hear everyone around you. There is no special power at play here.

The "Sword Five" of Ōetsu are his forge. The individual parts of his forge appear in a humanoid form just like asauchi are actually zanpakto.

My headcanon for why/how Nimaiya uses Shinigami souls to forge Asauchi kinda goes along with the Hell reveal: When an extremely powerful Shinigami dies, their souls is (likely unwittingly) sent to Hell because it’s too strong to linger in the 3 main realms. But for “normal” Shinigami, when they die, I figure that their souls go to Nimaiya to be forged into the next generation of Zanpakuto. Kind of a big soul recycling system. So really, when a Soul becomes a Shinigami, they never reenter the reincarnation cycle; upon their death, their souls wind up in Hell or as Zanpakuto. Come to think of it…maybe that’s why one of the original Gotei 13 captains kinda resembles Shunsui’s Zanpakuto spirit…? And perhaps why some families seem to share similar Zanpakuto abilities (ie the Isshin and Ichigo both using Getsuga Tenshou)…? There are holes in the theory, but I kind of like it.

In that scene, I want to point out a possible plot hole, if it is not please explain it to me: So, in this episode, Old Man Zangetsu tells Ichigo that he had lied to him from the beginning and he was never his Zanpakto, but rather he was Ichigo's Quincy powers and then he says whenever he learned something about his zanpakto, the hollow was there. That's okay, but the problem I have goes back to episode where Ichigo learns "The Final Getsuga Tenshou". In that episode, when Ichigo went into his inner world in dangai, he saw Old Man Zangetsu younger, and then his hollow self explained it by saying "Oh, you have never come here while you were in Bankai, have you?" So my question is if Old Man Zangetsu has no ties with Ichigo's Shinigami powers, why he was different in Ichigo's Bankai state? Is there an explanation for this in canon, or is this a plot hole? Thanks in advance for all answers.

It all ties back to what is shown in this episode. ALL of Ichigo's powers are connected, because they are all parts of him. White was in the Vasto Lorde form, because that is what Ichigo associated him with at the time. That is also the reason why the two Zangetsu's fuse, because Ichigo needs to accept all of his powers, to truly ascend to the level of a God. Ichigo was always a God, he was simply raised to think of himself as a mere mortal. There is also the idea that a Bankai is the most pure manifestation of your true self, and so when Ichigo is in his supposed Bankai state, White is in his "Pure Hollow" form, after Ichigo unlocked that part of his power. Meanwhile, the Quincy part of his powers are younger physically younger, because that is more true to what Ichigo really is (a young man with room to grow, as opposed to an older, world-weary man).

It kind of goes back to when Ichigo was training to control his hollow powers. Zangetsu told Ichigo that OMZ and him have always been one and they share the same body. That's why when Ichigo puts his soul into his hollow asauchi, both Zangetsus are formed. Even though his Quincy powers are manifested by OMZ, OMZ is still a zanpakuto spirit. In CFYOW, Urahara states that Ichigo's reiatsu mostly reads as a shinigami with hollow and quincy elements hidden behind it.

So here is one problem I had with Ichigo and his weapons from the end of Arrancar arc on... We see Vasto Lord Ichigo but he wont use that against Aizen so he goes to dangai and comes back as Dangai Ichigo and uses Mugetsu.. that two forms then he's lost all power.. He goes through Fullbring and as soon as he gets his Fullbring power its taken away... he then gets all powers restored and fights Genji and then rushes 2 fights, then gets his bankai broken by Yhwach. He then forms his new Zangetsu sword which is promptly broken then restored, then during final fight we see a new Bankai... I mean its feels like his sword is only good enough for one fight then he has to get a new one only for it to break and get a new one.. I feel like before he was always growing as a fighter but now its not him fighting that good enough its his "sword".

4:42 they're all offering themselves up to become his blade. me : i think so. 4:44 but really only one can truly be it. me : i dont think so, first of all Judging from Nimaya's expression, it can be concluded that even Nimaya himself has never been treated like that (kneeling to Nimaya), we can see what kind of behavior the sword of five Nimaya has towards him and based on what nimaya said that asauchi is the ultimate zanpakuto which can become anything (and i think it can become anything depending on the person wearing it), so no matter which asauchi ichigo chooses it won't affect anything,

The kanji in the original manga used for Ichigo actually means "I Protect" and not "strawberry", even though Ichigo could mean either depending on the kanji used for the word, so I have to agree that the pink sky is just a reference to the opening. Given that Viz Media has been known to mistranslate on purpose though. . . .

Ichigo meaning strawberry is 100% a thing Kubo aknowledges, as "the Death and the Strawberry" is the title of both the first and last manga volumes That doesn't necessarily make the pink sky a reference to his name, but it'd be quite the coincidence if it wasn't
