@@gameclips5734 See, that's the thing though: Watching MK1 bores me to death, watching Tekken8 is... way too much, and many anime fighters I just don't find that fun to watch. SF6 nails an incredible sweet spot of being simple enough in mechanics and, crucially, presentation to understand high-level plays even from a low-level perspective while being complex enough to create these exciting sets where the odds can shift at any moment. It's so much more engaging to watch than any other fighting game I've seen, it's incredible. I never cared much for esports, even in the games I play regularly, but now I find myself eagerly anticipating Capcom Cup because this game is just so fun to experience.

Love these edited watchalongs for tournaments, but since they're already this long I feel you can get more generous with the cuts, there were some close rounds where the video cut ahead a couple of seconds too often. A quick question because I see it happening often in tournament, why do people take the risk of perfect parrying drive impact attempt when they are in a situation where they can just DI back ? I'm thinking at situation like at 52:02 where Dual Kevin had both the life and the drive meter to just DI back. Seems like unnecessary risk no? P.S: especially considering the fact that the reward is a scaled combo.
@Brian_F9 ай бұрын
The ideal response would be to DI it (when you have enough health), but usually people are hovering over parry because parry can stop multiple things, so it becomes easier on your mental stack/faster to just parry back. It's hard to be ready to both parry something, and then react with DI in return to a DI, so parry is the "safer" option to be focusing on in a lot of situations, for less reward.

I know it's Punk, but the fact he held his own like that with Luke with basic day 1 setups/combos against one of the better players says a lot. I swear that target combo he did on block was because he barely knows the character's moves. Put even Punk on a character like Lily or Aki with similar practice, and it wouldn't go near as well. I'm hoping he pulls a random Jamie out for a tournament run, since he hit legend with him.

55:39 I'm not too sure how many people know this, but! I've heard that when a character gets hit by a CA while their health is in the yellow health zone, they will ALWAYS die, regardless of scaling! I have been using this as a rule of thumb since I heard it in passing one day and it hasn't let me down since.
@MasterFaiyn9 ай бұрын
Hey. Just took a look at the clip. Never quite noticed this, but it looks like the health bar goes yellow right at 20%. Regular lvl 3 supers should do exactly 2k damage when scaled to 50% which is the minimum that a (lvl 3?) super can be scaled to. Good info. Now the problem is figuring out if you will be able to push them into the yellow by spending all your drive gauge.
@cutter54459 ай бұрын
Hi! So I just did some digging myself, and it looks like most characters' CA do 4500 damage. Characters' health bars turn yellow when their health drops below 25%, and most characters have 10,000HP. Gief, Marisa, and Honda are the only three with more. If we account for maximum scaling on a level 3 (50%), a typical CA would do 2250 damage fully scaled. This means that as long as the hit that dropped the character into the yellow did at least 250 damage past that 25% health threshold, the CA is bound to kill. This isn't a concrete rule of thumb, but we can generally assume it remains true outside of a few character/ matchup specific scenarios. In the timestamped interaction, Luke cancels his uncharged 214HP into CA, which does 1000 damage unscaled, so the move would have to be immensely scaled to dip Cammy into the yellow range and not deal 250 or more damage over the threshold. I know that most other characters typically cancel their stronger special moves into their CA, and I know that those tend to do comparable damage to Luke 214HP. For reference, Chun Li 236LK does 800 damage, Cammy 236HK does 800 damage, etc. Overall, it looks like this "rule of thumb" is likely to be true in most scenarios just because the math happens to work out, rather than an intended mechanic. It could be a useful thing to keep in mind when playing as well, as long as you're aware of the few fringe situations where the math doesn't work out. @@MasterFaiyn
