I guess if you have to bring in a guest actor that's as iconic as Kitaoji of the Samurai Chambara world, it's unavoidable to add in a really brief but tense jousting session with Watanabe's character Zankuro, and those few intense minutes compelled me to hold my breath and whisper "stop it already pleeease" hahahaha This 2nd season is indeed leveling up as it brings in Kitaoji as a guest Samurai actor. I'm crossing my fingers that one day they'll also bring in Shintaro Katsu, but I think he's quite a "heavyweight" in stature the writers might not be able to accommodate him so I'll stop dreaming about it. But who knows? Maybe Hiroyuki Sanada? Satomi Kotaro? Chang Ta Wei (David Chang of Shaw Brothers) hehehehe

Zankuro may be lazy but when the time comes he does rise on the Occassion. I thought his mother was a shrew but she is one tough and brave lady when the time comes. I like Tsukachi. She's a bit of a pistol.. And Miss Sumi..Well she's like the girl next door.

I really enjoyed this episode, considering I have a dvd of it which only includes the first 45 minutes of the episode (the usual length of the episodes), so I have never seen the final third of the story. .
