I'm a registered nurse at a nursing home and this is one of my patient's favorite songs. I always play music for my patients during medication pass. This patient does not speak much so when he asked me if I could play this song for him, I was a bit surprised. When this song is playing, this guy who doesn't talk much, will belt it at the top of his lungs and just smile, and it always brings tears to my eyes. You can tell that he's just remembering back when he was younger. We've made it our daily routine now. I love every aspect of my job, but getting to see my patients happy and smiling is the best reward ever!

When I was in fourth grade,our class assignment was to choose a song from the radio and recite the lyrics as a poem. As I listened to my classmates give their presentations, it became apparent that not all songs are created equally. When I stood before the class and recited “The Sounds of Silence” it became apparent that I had made a great choice, Thanks to Simon and Garfunkle.❤️

I’m just a teenager who has only this year discovered Simon and Garfunkel. The more I listen to their music and return to watch these videos, the more I envy those who were able to experience them live and in their prime. I truly believe my generation will never get to see a duo of this talent - it’s bittersweet.

I am eighty years old, and I was around when this was written and performed by Simon and Garfunkel. It was a masterpiece then and is just as powerful today. I read that Paul Simon wrote this awesome song by himself, but I don't know that for sure. Anyway, whoever wrote it is a genius, and they foretold the future in so many lines in the song, that it is a prophetic creation. I loved it when I was a young man, and I still do at 80.

Well, I suppose you could call pitch correction a gimmick of sorts. Not quite, but it's certainly something that is separate from talent. Someone should have tuned Simons guitar instead of Garfunkels vocals.
@DaveDexterMusic
@DaveDexterMusic 5 жыл бұрын
+Nevil It's astonishing to me that some people deny or can't hear it. It is so obviously corrected in some fashion. However, that doesn't mean they endorsed or asked for it - there's precedent for pitch correction to be applied by whoever mixes a live performance for DVD, annoying the singer in question who had no idea it was going to happen. Let's hope they went out raw to the audience at least. That guitar, though. Eeeesh.

I pray first that you know personally the Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, and you grow in his love, and you know the deep truth of him dying and paying for your sins, and because he is God and the Resurrection and the life, DEATH COULD NOT HOLD HIM, so you accepting him as your Lord and savior Death will not hold you either and you will live eternally after this life with Your great God and Saviour Jesus Christ . And if it's his will for you to go on further in this temporal life you exemplify the character of Christ now in you to bring others to this truth of who Jesus is

Paul resents Art for throwing his weight around and taking him for granted, but also respects him and looks up to him greatly. I have seen Paul on talk shows by himself and he's serious and sullen. I've also seen him on talk shows with Art and he's all smiles and his face lights up. He talks about Art in glowing terms and goes out of his way to emphasize that Art sings "very well." I think it's a similar dynamic to Lennon/McCartney where, as talented and capable as is Paul, McCartney really loves, respects and admires Lennon and is always trying to curry his favor, but Lennon, like Art, takes him for granted, can take him or leave him, and can dole out the abuse without remorse.

+Ren Flexx I think I beat you all. I was born in 1945 and I experienced the full force of the sounds of the 60s. This is great writing, great musicianship, great voice harmony and words that are simple but great literature. The words are nearly Biblical in their simplicity, wisdom and insight. In my youth I got the chance to see and hear the two of them alone on a stage accompanied only by Simon's guitar. Stuff like this does nor come along every day. When it does there is only one word to describe it - PURE MAGIC!
