Man, the red mech at 19:16 is the true MVP tbh, it took on a lightsaber dude, another one and then 1v1ed another mech while being just absolutely destroyed by the blue’s artillery, including a canon and flying dude, and STILL managed to destroy the blue mech before it got destroyed itself.

The blue artillery in the second minute had IMPRESSIVELY bad aim. Li'l bit of an audio glitch at 3:10, btw. Bases having damage reflection is a smart way to limit blowouts. Loved the special units, as usual. The dynamic of the base cannon getting hugely buffed attack speed when below 500, but being outranged by the larger artillery piece (and I think the shotgun angel on most firing trajectories?), is also quite interesting. Curved ground has an interesting effect on the artillery and straight shots; overall positive, I think? Makes battles care about where on the map they happen. Would be interesting to see variable terrain in future iterations, too. By far the most interesting thing about the endgame was the way multiple of these factors came in to actually allow bases to be chipped down at the end rather than either take no damage or get absolutely rushed. This added a LOT of tension and made near-base engagements risky but potentially rewarding due to the power of the base cannon. Overall a great change. Timing of that music track so the two mechs burning each other starts just as the drop kicks in was fantastic. The blue guy with the laser sword sneaking in and taking out the red mech doubly so, even if he copped a headshot moments later. Important tactical lesson: You can't just send in a mech unsupported and expect it to win the game for you. It was very telling that I kept going "yep, [COLOR] is toast...probably" and turned out to be wrong several times. And finally we see the payoff for actually bringing proper artillery to a siege; Red not having to swarm in, but rather getting the win via long-range chip damage after blue failed to do so multiple times. A satisfying end to the game, in that smart "decision making" won the day. ...yes I'm live-editing this as I watch, shush :V
