Idk why but the last part of that sentence, especially "leisure" I read it in Jimmy's Quincy-voice 😂

The funniest part is Opie trying to contribute to Louis story

Louis is on fire here, absolutely brilliant stuff! Whenever someone tells me they don't think Louis C.K.'s funny or they've never heard of him or whatever, I play them this clip. His storytelling and social commentary are what he does best in my opinion. He does this on stage in his act too but I find it nearly impossible to get a room full of people, or even 1 person for that matter, to sit and listen to an hour-long standup special and pay attention long enough without someone talking over it or losing interest. As per usual, Opie tries repeatedly to derail the funny but Louis wasn't having it this day. He clearly had some shit he wanted to get off his chest here and somehow Opie managed to NOT trample everything with 'calls from the listeners.' This 30 minute clip might actually be Opie's personal best at not taking a single call from a listener. Maybe the phone screener was late that morning or maybe Zarchivo edited them out lol. In any case, thanks for the upload! Some timestamps, mainly for my own convenience: 00:00 - Atlantic City/Casinos/Local Businesses 02:54 - Trump Marina/Old Ladies 06:40 - Walmart/Corporate greed/Video rental stores, bookstores and coffee shops 16:02 - Opie tries to contribute (cringe) 21:09 - Facebook/Privacy/etc. 24:50 - Cars 27:46 - Opie tries again 31:25 - Rumsfeld/encyclopedias

When was this recorded? He was describing Trump and his followers now, the "I only have one thousand, but you can have it, Mr Trump, supposed billionaire" part was spot on, and long before he ran for president. Wonder what makes people want to do that.

Louis conveniently leaves out the part where both Betamax and VHS were made by giant Japanese corporations. The way corporations work, they'll open stores irrespective. If it works , great, if it doesnt , they pull out. We had a bunch of low rung franchise home decor and fashion stores open up here in rural midwest, went kaput and closed down and meanwhile the local Hispanic run boutiques are trucking along unperturbed. I think it comes down to reasonable pricing. Most local stores charge an arm and a leg and are therefore easily shut down. Sure, overhead is a killer, licensing and certifications are money pits. But that does not mean that big corps are not making cheap, fair quality goods available.

And people wonder why there are so many cases of "mental illness" these days. We're bored. We have sanitized life and experiences to the point where they do not really matter anymore. We worship the cult of celebrity. Everything is supposed to be fun and nothing bad should ever happen to us. There should be as much good as there is bad. Only through hardship do we know who we really are. So many of you do not know who you are. We should be more grounded to the earth, instead of separating ourselves from it. We have lost our foundations so it follows that we feel lost. And this was all our doing. We chose this. We are fucking stupid.

This. We're dopamine fried rats, eating garbage, watching garbage, with no belief in any higher power or morality system. People aren't mentally ill, you're not depressed or anxious. Your soul is diseased

I would say that both are cutthroat, but at least Microsoft doesn't lock you down as much. Why are there hardly any games on Mac? Apple takes 30% of everything you make on their portable systems. Microsoft takes nothing.
