Defense is his biggest strength, he’ll probably be the best perimeter defender in the league or at least Top 5, he’s a big 6’6 guy like Jaylen Brown with Jrue footwork and balance, and Butler instinct in the passing lanes, and i think he’ll be even stronger than Brown, him and Wemby will be a nightmare for opponents offense, he could guard 1-4 or even 1-5 against some teams with small 6’9/6’10 Center, and with Wemby behind him he’ll be able to be super aggressive

He’s 19, has good poise for his age, good physical gifts, high iq, solid handle and passer, but he was a little lost on defense even though he possesses good defensive skills. He played fine in the grand scheme of things, nothing special but that’s ok. People expect these young kids to be ready to play from day 1. It took wemby till about January to figure out the physicality and pace of the game and he was way better of a prospect than castle. Let’s also realize that this was a weak draft an in most castle is probably falling to 8-12. He’ll get better under pop and learning from everyone on the team. He most likely won’t play a ton, probably around 18-24 minutes a game cuz there’s guys ahead of him and I think they need to start prioritizing winning cuz this fake desire to win by the front office and pops speech last year that winning is important then proceeds to get the 4th pick is getting old and the players will start to lose faith cuz these aren’t the same guys from that original team that had success with him. I think CP and Barnes are hugely underrated signings, I really can’t think of two better pros and locker room guys to set an example. CP I think is starting and shouldn’t play more than 24 minutes a night and I think Barnes should start as well, he’s a neutral defender and plus shooter so he’ll fit in well with those guys. CP, Vassell, Barnes, Sochan, Wemby Jones, Castle, Johnson, Collins (furphy would’ve fit perfectly with this group but I digress)

He got some work to do on his shot/offense but I can definitely see the vision. Chip isn't here any more as shooting coach but I still trust the Spur's development staff. Playing with Chris Paul will do wonders, obviously. I bet Chris will be using this as a coaching internship as well. Smart little mf lmao. You never like Chris Paul until he's on your team hahaha. Castle is big. Pretty smooth too, if he can get to spots he could be a little bigger Shai type. Castle has a little more hesitation/jerkiness on the dribble (in a good/different way) but if you squint you might see it. Came from a great college program. Proven winner. Going to a great pro team. Proven winner. I'm optimistic but like I said: the young man has plenty to work on (and work with).

It’s summer league lmao, chill it means absolutely nothing
@averiskonsept3 ай бұрын
@@2ClutchCorey Means everything to the guys playing, cuz. Sure, Stephon Castle as a #4 pick is covered, but contracts in the NBA change lives... you think Zavier Simpson or Nathan Mensah isn't giving his all? Dudes are throwing themselves around for loose balls, not playing the NBA version of two-hand touch. That's why its fairly impressive that Castle's first game went solid, at least from a personal perspective. There is a solid level of competition around these rookies. Nick Smith Jr. for example, a first round pick last year, had a good all around game, but he shot 4/17 and is supposed to be a good shooter. Castle did much better by comparison. I wanted him for the Hornets, to be fair. But someone like Mo Gueye, who we have never heard of lets be honest, goes for 20+ and we froth at the mouth about his potential. At least, I did last night... It means just as much as the Hornets winning by 32. Nothing to the average fan and everything to Gueye or NSJ or Castle. Which is kind of the point. I'm surprised there aren't more fist fights in summer league, to be honest! I'd get scrappy over a few hundred dollars; they've got millions on the line! Any rookie out there playing decent in his first game has to be given a lot of credit going against 2nd, 3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th year pros and undrafted or non-guaranteed guys that have to feed wives and children.
@visq3 ай бұрын
@@averiskonsept that's irrelevant. Because your whole premise of the comment was to say he isn't doing nothing because Hornet blew them out. If Summer League is so important as you say, then the comment above has nothing to do with your point. That's on THOSE players who is fighting for a spot. This is a CASTLE highlight, not a Spurs Summer League highlight. So yes, not as important for Castle as it's just him getting reps with Spurs before team practice. A blowout doesn't change his trajectory lol.
